violence. etting lost in e it is getting lost in the loading. wheel but the air quality into a four-day forecast. we will look ahead to this week off of the top. i will do my best to let you know what to expect on the air quality. is sent flying in how she gocaught they open area openings. >> san francisco is two days away from giving hair and nail salons, barber shops, and other personal care services the green light to operate. it will not be business as usual. we spoke with business owners getting a little creative to move their services outside. >> reporter: set for cisco falls under the state's red or second strictest tier for reopening. the city is allowing some businesses to reopen this week. many owners are finding ways to adapt. briand, who owns eight is salon in union square, has been closed since the pandemic bega allowed personal services to restart outdoors on tuesday . >> my colleague and i have decided to start a completely different business. we are taking haircuts outdoors. we are coming to your home, or your outdoor space. it is a mobile haircutting business. >> reporter: in addition to hair salons, barber shops, nail salons, and massage polars can operate outdoors. employees and customers will be required to wear masks. >> i'm looking forward to getting my haircut. it has been awhile. it is getting out of control. as soon as they open i will be first in line. >> reporter: this lady is starting her new business as a barbershop. her salon will remain, temporarily, closed. >> we do not have the option to do any outdoor services here because we are right on the street. it is busy. >> reporter: we i felike as long as people are outdoors, with masks on, i feel comfortable. my sister cut my hair the last time. i'm looking forward to having a professional do it. >> i've not had my hair cut since march. it looks pretty bad if i let it down. that would be exciting. i will come out and support my local businesses. >> reporter: san francisco is in 75 new cases of covid-19 a day, which is considerably down from last month. the mayor warns reopening does raise the risk of more infections. next up for the city, gyms and fitness studios will be allowed to take their training sessions and classes outdoors to public g reopen torrow, e. l indoorsiu mandate maskd social distancing and total calls. malls will have to keep their food courts closed. businesses must keep common areas to more than than 25% of capacity. indoor operations are a no go for restaurants and gyms. we posted a detailed breakdown of the reopening guidelines on cbssf.com , along with a link to a county by county list of what is open, what is not and why. we are taking a live look at san jose was reporting their skies. tarp cloudy skies close to the coast and more starshine inland. a real problem is air-quality. the fact that we have not been able to read it well lately. >> opportunity introduced a new weather word. we are in a smoke wave. just like a smoke wave. it is a prolonged period about air-quality. i will get into the forecast. what is the best information we have to do this discuss how this week will play out? unfortunately, not a whole lot different than what we have been doing the last few days. monday and tuesday on there, the orange dots, bay area white say it is unhealthy for sensitive groups. that is a generic way of telling you it will be just like it has been for the last nine days. wednesday and thursday have the potential to be better. fingers crossed on that. will take a forecast like this, you cannot take it to literal. i will be back with more on this in a couple minutes. will take a look at the air- quality is outside your door right now. we also talked about temperatures. to keep up with the air- quality in your area we have posted links to several resources on kpix.com. onto the fire watch. we have good news from the front lines of the three major fires causing all of the smoke. cruise up containment. the scu complex is 55% contained. cal fire saying today the weather has been very favorable. dense brush is slowing down the fire fight. the crews managed to quickly stamp out my new spot fires that ignited today. in santa cruz county, tcu complex is 37% contained. damage inspection is 95% complete tonight with the cruise finding over 800 homes damaged. major priority is getting rid of hazards that would make it dangerous for residents to return home, like cutting down weekend trees. at the same time, the lnu complex burning in sonoma and napa, and solano counties is 58% contained. crews have down graded evacuation orders to warnings and sonoma county. the northeast areas of the complex a big priority for fire crews right now. heated confrontation across both sides of the bay have erupted over political conflict and social justice. we asked both sides. and if recent demonstration have helped or hurt their cause. >> reporter: from the golden gate bridge to the streets of oakland, demonstrations on both sides of the divide are raising concerns here in the bay area. today, about 250 pro trump protesters walked onto the golden gate bridge . by a large contingent of law enforcement and 50 counter protesters. >> trap supporters have blood on their hands. they are supporting a regime that rationalizes violence. >> reporter: the rally organizers called their action rescue america. they denounce the ensigns that have led to vandalism and even violence. last night in portland, a man died from gunshot wounds after a clash between the two sites. according to the associative press, the shooting victim was wearing a hat with patriot prayer, a right wing pro trump group. >> if there are legitimate concerns they have it is getting lost in the violence. they have legitimate concerns they need to find a different way to express them. all they are doing right now is repelling people from their cause. >> protest that to occur in the daylight hours, one you can read the signs i am caring. nighttime protest only designed to conceal who is doing the protesting and what they intend to do. >> reporter: the former san francisco mayor says that president trump is aching on the balance. he says the black lives matter demonstrations in oakland are legitimate but as for the destruction of property, he says that could end up helping the republicans in the election. >> biden and harris really want them to cry and indicate how awful it is to engage in the kind of conduct that is being translated into violence attributable to them. >> reporter: there are a variety of viewpoints as to whether these demonstrations, when they get destructive, are helping or hurting the cause. >> people do not do nothing when we are not writing. if we have to bring the system that we will burn it down. >> what is burning it down gets trump reelected? >> it is not. >> you can be peaceful and sit around and wait and go to the poll's. you see things in your neighb step up. >> you are out here destroying property, trying to get your point over. you cannot get a point across like that. as an african-american woman, i do not want you out there faulty representing me if you are breaking the law and committing crime. you do not represent me. i do not stand for that. a trump protest in southern california turned violent as well tonight. hundreds of people walking and driving in a car caravan waved trump signs and chanted four more years. tensions with counter protesters soon came to a head. three men were caught on camera bottles and firing shots at the tire. nobody was hurt. the suspect located themselves inside a building until a s.w.a.t. team arrested them. it is a catch nobody wanted to make. oakland a's are in isolation tonight after confirming a case of covid-19. we arereporton the team's game plan for handling the setback. >> the a's were supposed to finish up their series in houston and then fly to seattle to continue the road trip that will not happen. they will be staying in houston a little while longer after one member of their traveling party tested positive for covid-19. today's game was postponed. now, the next 24-48 hours will be spent in isolation at their hotel as the rest of the group waits to be cleared for travel. >> we need to see if this is an isolated infection or a larger issue. the only way to do that is to be patient and make sure everybody isolated at the hotel. we will wait until tomorrow to figure out tomorrow. the a's would not confirm a national report that it was a player that tested positive. we will have more coming up on game day at 11:30. ve re sitive covid-19 teststhleague's shoranas . flu settdoctors say it could be a mild flu season. if you want a cigarette let him have a cigarette. >> the burning sensation and the coughing that comes with using a cigarette for the first time, if you're using a cigarette with menthol that masks some of the effects that makes it easier for kids to initiate tobacco. >> smoke shop owners were reluctant to go on camera but they are worried about what will happen to their businesses. heart stopping video out of taiwan tonight. a frightening mishap for a little girl at a kite festival. the 30 got entangled in the strings of a bright red kite, as you see there, sweeping her up 30 feet into the air. witnesses caught this footage of the girl being lifted up and swung into the air for a few seconds, all in the ground as pendant on lockers rushed to help the girl. she was not injured. will get better picture tonight of the devastation left behind after hurricane laura tore through the gulf coast. or than 350,000 people are still without power in new orleans. the death toll is up to 17 people. in lake charles louisiana, one of the hardest hit areas, crews are cleaning up mountains of debris. 150 mile an hoinds splintered trees and shattered power poles. they leveled homes. to make matters worse, people are scrambling to protect the damaged roofs from rain rolling in over louisiana. there putting up makeshift tarps . >> a lot of our citizens need places to stay and preferably, right now, those places need to be outside of lake charles. >> are working to house thousands of displaced peoples in hotels instead of shelters. they are worried that the recovery from the disaster could potentially turn into a covid catastrophe. from hurricane to our own weather, we have problems of our own. >> will start out with one of those. the air-quality. even though you may not be too concerned going outside. this has not changed a whole lot over the last 24 hours. when we look at the readings right now you can gauge this for monday morning. although there are overnight shifts. some of these locations will get better air quality in the morning. in general, it will stay like this tomorrow. is unhealthy for sensitive groups. it is the same way around concord. the best air-quality all day long has been right here right through the immediate opening of the golden gate and in the immediate bay. these dots are the shade of yellow and orange, they were green in the city for a good part of the day. that will likely return again tomorrow. some of the best air-quality likely found in the city tomorrow. south gorin is looking at moderate. somerville is in the purple. consistently looking at that air-quality. in sonoma, it has been mixed. that is the best readings we have had all day. you have had a fairly unhealthy air along with the one for part of the day. it is a good marine layers covering the city right now.
