painting graffiti and setting off fireworks. >> smoke and haze still lingering in the bay area. darren pack is tracking the air quality. >> you can see the trouble off of the scu complex fire. between noon and 3:00 today. go and look at that full screen and watch what happens. watch for the towers right there of tall white clouds and they look like regular storm clouds and they are because that's the very beginning of a cumulus cloud. watch it again as you see the fire so hot that the air is rising and it is developing a normal cloud up there. thankfully it did not grow larger, it can get bigger but it tells us there is intensity and the heat has a lot of power to drive this thing up and that's what you want to look at right here. if you live in santa clara county because that smoke is heading your way. here is san jose. there's the plume of smoke and look at where the leftovers go. they are getting directed right down towards san jose. and into santa clara county. as a result of that the air quality down there is not good. it is going to take a second for the censors to load. when you get to the oranges and the red you are getting for unhealthy groups. you can see the pattern. big difference. lots of red showing up in san joaquin valley. go easy on yourself for the rest of the afternoon. not good to breathe in more of this stuff than you have to. for now guys, back to you. thank you, darren. the scu complex fire grew by five thousand acres. 40 percent contained and 3000 acres burning and the largest one in california and the second one in state history. in the santa cruz mountains the czu lightning fires 30% contained and evacuation orders lift the for the hard hit community of felton. in the north bay crews are gaining ground on the lau complex fire that is 40% contained and burn 370,000 acres. and to help those affected by the fire two assistant centers are opened in so noha valley. >> this is a new journey when it happens to them. this is a slow burn and it is still going and because of that we feel we can't really wait until we get a full count and get everybody back to start helping people. >> another fire assistance center is open in napa center at the health and human services campus in napa and visitors can get federal resources seven days a week from nine in the morning until 6 at night. today marks the first weekend a new wave of week the national park service will begin a coyote resurge project. the focus will be the northern part of the golden gate national recreation area and tagging coyotes with gps callers to track movements. officials say that findings from the study will help protect the public from food seeking coyotes. we will know everything to know about coyotes but let's learn about the weather. >> we will try to cram everything in these next two minutes. the air quality issue is the number one item how is the weather and the atmosphere around this impacting our lives? we don't have any other significant aspects to the weather but the smoke is getting into every neighborhood. san jose a live picture. you have got some of the worst of it. just to go back to show you the behavior on the fire that complex that is burping down here, the scu complex we will look. you see the plume of smoke. i will stop it. at 1:55 in the afternoon and you will see that white dot right in the middle. that is the beginnings of a cumulous fire club that starts to build as you get to the center. this cloud happens when you get in the most intense heat and that did not get too big but the fact it was there at all tells us this fire still has a lot of material to work with. it got very hot today and look at the smoke. all getting blown off your way. if you look at the air quality censors back in the unhealthy category for many locations in the santa clara valley. on the peninsula better as you get far enough away. the forecast for the next few days it doesn't look good. not through monday. and maybe into tuesday and wednesday there is hope but it is difficult to forecast air quality when it comes to wildfire smoke with much accuracy but we can tell you what is going on. that is dry valley and you are getting smoke from the sec complex tour south and not blowing your way but drifting and trapped. the pattern we are in, the bigger weather picture is not letting the smoke escape. it is holding here and keep recycling. not a strong enough flow through enough layers of the atmosphere and thankfully not a heat wave and you can see where the marine layer is off of the coast and it will build back in. this is good news. that is a little more humidity. we do get some of that down towards the santa clara valley but it is not high enough to get on to those hills where the fires are burning. those hills are above the marine layer that means as gray and damp as it gets in the overnight does not mean a thing on the front lines of the fire. staying dry. that's your classic climate and not helping in terms of the fire, even if it is bringing humidity where we live. morning lows in the 50s and daytime highs where they were today. mid to upper layers if you are inland. here is the story for much of this next coming week, the red bull's-eye over us, when you look at the six to ten day outlook tells you the degree of confidence that temperatures will be above average. the deeper the red the higher the confidence and if you look at the seven-day forecast you will see the numbers start climbing in the mid and upper 70s as we get towards the end of this next coming week. so it is going to stay hot around here. not like heat wave hot but it is still 8 or so degrees above average and dry. not what we wanted. vern, what about sports. >> you can set your watch to it. sports
