Supercommuters out of tracy getting on to 580 and as you work towards that north flynn exit. Thats the bulk of the delays this morning. As you head along into the altamont pass, 38 minute drive time westbound 580, 205 over to et good ough in both directiore just a little busy south of there on 680 through the sunol grade. We are monitoring these brake lights along the nimitz freeway. South 880 still struggle this morning. Slow from 92 all the way down to fremont boulevard to clear an accident right at that exit. Developing in oakland, cleanup is underway this morning after protests against the Police Shooting of jacob blake in wisconsin took a turn last night. Agitators smashed windows and set several fires. Kpix 5s kiet do is live there in oakland now surveying the damage and kiet, lots of clean up there. Reporter absolutely. You know, this is the scene out here at the whole foods near lake merritt. This is just off of harrison. Looks like the crews are almost done installing plywood over these windows that were smashed out. Pretty much the entire store front is smashed out and you can see here looks like they used some kind of tool to strike it like some kind of sharp blunt object and it smashed through both plate glass windows here. And lots of glass both inside and out. So these contractors, looks like theyre mostly done at this point after working through the night. So this all started around 8 00 p. M. Last night. Several dozen people gathered at Frank Ogawa Plaza in solidarity with the protesters in wisconsin over the shooting of blake. This group then grew to about 600, 700 people and began marching northward. They briefly got into a skirmish with officers at police headquarters. Some of them were carrying tool began hicl street that we can find. And then lake shore and r courthouse on fallon, protesters stripped the plywood off the front glass door and then started a small fire inside the building. Oakland Fire Department came quickly and then put it out. We spoke with a man by the name of Martin Harris. Hes an employee who works here at the whole foods where were at right now. All three nba playoff games scheduled yesterday were postponed. So far, League Owners appear to be supporting the historic move. The movement started first by the Milwaukee Bucks and then spread quickly throughout professional sports leagues from the wnba and mlb and mls. But its not the first time weve seen athletes use the National Stage to bring awareness to racial injustice. This month, four years ago, former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began his peaceful protest by taking a knee during the national anthem. The pathway that Colin Kaepernick, in my mind, he created, is that we dont have to revisit the motives as much as we did before. Now were starting to see the social consciousness and the social advocacy take over and take precedent over financial gain. The postponed nba games will be rescheduled. No word yet on the new dates. And stay with us, coming up in our next half hour, kpix 5s sports director Dennis Odonnell breaks down how our bay area teams are responding. Im anne makovec at the live news desk. I mean its a gorgeous day here in galveston and i late to say that when we have so much going on just about 150 miles east of here in cameron. But here in galveston, very minimal effects from this storm. We have some rain and some wind. But again, the sun is out and skies are blue and a Beautiful Day on the beach. What were hearing right now from southwestern louisiana is that the sun is coming up and theyre starting to begin the rescue efforts. Lots of damage because of those intense winds and 150mileper hour winds and windows blown out in the downtown area, roofs off home and businesses. A lot of damage there. Whats not coming out yet is any sort of necessary rescue like to get out of their homes and police are not able to get everywhere right now because of the storm surge that came in. But that was one big concern the loss of life but we have not heard about that just yet. But the time right now is to assess the damage and crews are coming in to see what is needed where. And anne, then well go from there as far as any sort of rescue or recovery efforts. All right, so now a Tropical Storm or about to be a Tropical Storm. Now moving inland. What are the concerns were going to see as laura moves from state to state here . Reporter right, well, of course its still a hurricane. Expected to be a Tropical Storm. Then its going to move its way northeast and then potentially back out into the atlantic. So because of that storm surge, there was a prediction of about 20 feet. Dont think it did that thank goodness. But still, penetration of 40 miles inland and so thats not just the coastal communities. Thats homes 40 miles in. And then it just continues to dump rain, flash flooding potential, in all the way up to arkansas. Is where the path is going to go. So theres so much more potential for more so far. All right, we will continue to follow laura as chemos inland but glad you are safe, thanks for that. Len . Reporter thank you. Anne and courtney, thank you. Now to the fire watch.
