So low clouds and areas of fog along the coast and right around the bay. And even little bit of drizzle in spots as well. Especially along the coast. This morning, heres a live look with our Treasure Island camera. Looking at the bay bridge and our temperatures are running in the 50s to about 60 degrees and even catching some drizzle in oakland this morning. In the mid 50s. Mid 50s as well for San Francisco and looking at 60 degrees right now for san jose. So lets check current air quality conditions. Much better compared to even yesterday at this time. Thats some good news a little bit of relief this morning. Many locations in the green and yellow that indicates good to moderate air quality but still unhealthy for parts of the north bay closer to the lnu complex fires. A spare the air alert still in effect today and well talk about what you can expect taking you through the day coming up in just a few minutes. Gianna. Good morning, taking a look at the roadways this morning, we are starting off with a Traffic Alert along 880. This nimitz freeway. And overturned vehicle causing a bit of a snag there working your way on 880 on the southbound side right around whipple. Couple of cars tangled up with that overturned vehicle. You now have at least two lanes shut down. They just reopened that number two lane. But you know as far as speeds go its not horrible. Kind of squeezing by okay. Just minimal backup but again as things get busier that might change. Watch that closely. And there are still a number of changes in effect due to the wildfires. Highway 1 to the state park. And also 84 at 1235. Len . Gianna, thank you. A mix of Peaceful Protesters and agitators marched in oakland late into the night in the wake of the Police Shooting of man in wisconsin. These videos shared by pd show the destruction to a business near lake merritt. The Alameda County court was also vandalized. Fire crews were on scene. Some inside stores and on the streets and even trash cans. Police say protesters also ignited small fireworks. The 19th street b. A. R. T. Station shut down close to 10 00 last night due to the protests and an hour later they stopped traffic and walked down the grand avenue off ramp. [ chanting ] murdering two people last night i am angry. I am angry in response to the protests the city of oakland said quote we celebrate passionate protests but remind oaklanders that when they attend protests, after dark, they may be providing cover for agitators. Who are more intent on vandalism and stoking civil unrest than advancing social justice. Professional athletes also took a stand against racial injustice. All three nba playoff games scheduled yesterday were postponed. So far, League Owners appear to be supporting the historic move. The movement started first by the Milwaukee Bucks and spread quickly throughout professional sports leagues from the wnba and mlb and mls. But its not the first time weve seenathletes use the national stage. Four years ago yesterday, former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began his peaceful protest by taking a knee during the national anthem. Investigators say kyle raten house shot into the crowd with a semiautomatic rifle killing two people and injuring a third. Hes been charged with first degree homicide. To our fire watch now. Crews are upping containment of two major fires burning across the bay area this morning. The massive fire complex burning in the south bay, the scu complex, has gone from 25 to 30 containment. The fire in the santa cruz tanow 21 contained. Up 2 from yesterday. Winds and temperatures are down there and humidity is up. Crews are setting backfires to devour as much fire fuel as they can. Cal fire says they are looking at areas where they can clear the roads and lift evacuations but no timeline was given. In wine country, a setback for firefighters battling the lnu complex in yolo and colusa counties. The flames breaking free from one containment zone jumping across highway 16 and now threating homes. That prompted new evacuation orders overnight. This is the aftermath of a Mobile Home Park near Lake Berryessa leveled by fires. The homes now part of a grim figure. 978 structures destroyed. Hurricane laura made landfall at 10 00 last night our time extreme winds and an expected catastrophic storm surge in parts of texas and louisiana. Its going to move farther into louisiana today and within the past hour or so that storm was packing 105 Miles Per Hour winds making it a category 2 hurricane. Its likely to be a Tropical Storm before the day is out. Want to show you some new video we got in overnight. Yeah, that looks more like a hurricane. Howling winds battering buildings in lake charles, louisiana. Blowing out windows hours after landfall the wind and rain were still blowing very hard and some people who may not have left the area could be stranded right now. Resecures going to be out in that area. But theres some fears that you know, blocked more information on exactly how this storm has evolved over past 24 hours. Yeah, and cbs news Courtney Zubowski is in galveston, texas and actually heard from people who made it out of harms way in time. Reporter hurricane laura slammed louisiana and texas overnight. Coming ashore as a powerful category 4 storm. The National Hurricane center warned of a socalled unsurvivable storm surge. This is a dangerous situation. This is a dangerous amount of of water, 20foot above the ground. That could cover houses and it could cover just all sorts of areas and thats why it becomes unsurvivable. Reporter local officials along the gulf coast put in mandatory evacuation orders that covered over half a million people. Mass destruction. I mean, what a surge could take out stuff that you never believe. All you got to do is hope. Hope. Hope and pray. Yeah. Thats for sure. Reporter paul frazier and the gulf states dive and rescue team expect to be conducting swift water rescues today. Its grown to become a monster storm. Its unpredictable storm. Degrees of severity. And in oakland, you are catching that drizzle and temperatures in the mid 50s. Upper 50s for concord and livermore and mid 50s in San Francisco and 60 in san jose. And mid 50s for santa rosa this morning. Lets check the air quality and you can see many locations starting off our day with good to modera air green d to gomountain view. Moderate air quality the san jose. Lot petter compared to the last several days that weve seen. And for the east bay, good air quality for Castro Valley and hayward and union city and fremont and moderate air quality for pleasanton and looking at good air quality from danville and walnut creek. Around the bay, good air quality for San Francisco and for oakland. For the north bay still have unhealthy air and you are closer scott fires. San rafael and kent field dealing with the unhealthy air also for parts of petaluma this morning. So because of that hazy and the smoky grndspthe r alert in effect again for today and for tomorrow as well. But we do have that stronger sea breeze and as we head through the afternoon, with that afternoon sea breeze kicking in, that should help to kind of mix out some of that smoke as well. So still seeing the hazy skies but it does look a little bit better for today like it did yesterday. So because of that onshore flow, with thg see the clouds pull back to the coast as we head through the afternoon. Tomorrow, were going to start to warm things up a little bit more. That sea breeze not quite as strong for tomorrow. Daytime highs this afternoon looking at 84 in san jose and 83 for santa clara this afternoon. Looking at 90 for morgan hill. As we look to the east bay, 89 in concord this afternoon and pleasant hill. Upper 80s for the trivalley. Low 70s in oakland and for the north bay, upper 70s to low to mid80s. Heres the extended forecast and what you can expect. As we are looking at the temperatures on the rise for tomorrow. Little bit cooler for the weekend. And then warming back up for next week. I want to take you back to the nimitz freeway and we started off with a trouble spot. A Traffic Alert but i just got word from chp all lanes have been opened. So that number two lane just reopening and traffic moving at the speed limit there. Much better news there. Just south of there though, theres some slight delays thats due to ongoing road work along the nimitz freeway. Some slower speeds because of that. But other than that that crash is now cleared out of the lanes. Taking a look at traffic into the altamont pass, that supercommuter route starting to get busy westbound 580 out of tracy. From Mountain House extends on to 580 and brake lights about grant line. Past that though, it is smooth sailing all the way towards 680. So thats good news. 29 minutes is your dry time right now to go from 205 over to 680. And taking a look at roadways due to the closures from the wildfires, highway 1 along the coast, there are still a number of closures in place. The creek to the state park, that portion of highway 1 remains shut down and highway 1 at rossi and 84 at 1 over to 8035 and also south of there in the Santa Cruz Mountain areas, highway 1 state park to schafer road. Thats still closed and highway 9 lower glen arbor terrene con trail, those closures remain in effect and a quick look at the north bay weve got closures still in effect along 116 both directions from Martin Elliot to burn hill road.
