We know that Online Learning is not as good as inperson learning. But can we do it better than weve been doing it . Yeah. I think we have to do it better becausehis looks like its going to be protracted school closures. And so the key is is not to set expectations too high because that will just set everyone up for stress and disappointment. This is a time when we have enough to stress about, especially for parents, if parents are stressed out, kids are going to stressed out and will have a harder time learning. The key thing is focus on the basics. Obviously, everyones school is supporting them to different degrees. Especially if youre kids can get their math, reading, worldwiding, depending on the age, 20 minutes a day, two or three sessions of 20 or 30 minutes a day. If you get that under your belt and get your legs under you, you can think about layering on more subjects. Okay. Lets talk about the studen thr parental strategy be for making sure they dont fall behind . Yeah, this a lot of times when we had talk about distance school, we imagine school is first and foremost about learning the academic standards. It is, thats what we associate school for. As you saw in the school is about the sections, the social emotional learning, connection with the teacher. Everything you do for yhi or i you aeacher tor f optimizee connections. So i would say for a very young student, we have Early Learning funded by philanthropy. Kids can work on that for 20 minutes a day. Ideally theyre doing that next to a parent. Theyre able to still stay connected while theyre doing distance learning. Hopefully their teachers are able to do a couple of 20minute zoom sessions or Video Conference sessions every day. And then those sho the screen as much as possible. Getting them to do interactive things, especially for the younger age group, getting them to move around even. Yeah. Inthem onliits getting ff the video games and talkingn school. Ow brackets. Trategy for those e youre right. I think the key there is a lot of teachers who are doing this well are doing exactly that. Theyre setting goals for the day, for the week. Theyre doing regular checkins. When they get ine hangout or google meet or get on zoom or whatever Video Conference theyre using, instead of it being a oneway n breakouts, do some goal setting. Do small group sessions. And not just between the student and the teacher. Its super important that students can interact with each other. If youre not seeing that from your childs school, try to get some of that outside of whatevers being provided. You could do socially distanced play dates in the park, whatever. The whole program is special to me. Erybody was kinf confined to their homes, i thought, well, what a wonderful way to read to the kids.
