Temperatures inland stay near or above 100 degrees next week. It cannot be good news for the fire season. Lets talk to the expert. Earlier today, we got the chance to speak to cal fire about how the fire season looks this year compared to years past. In one word, he calls it robust. The number of fires are up. The acreage is on par with an average fire season. We have had more fires than we normally have in a year. This week alone in southern california, we have seen a large increase in fires and acreage as well. Reporter we had a busy end of june and beginning of july. Since then, things have slowed down. Expect the fire activity to pick up again soon. The wind will kick up in september and october. We have not had damaging fires in the recent weeks. The fuels are critical. We do have folks trying to socially distance and trying to venture into wildland areas. We are seeing the amount of fires. We have been very fortunate to stop those with 20 acres or less. Reporter kathy set out to change that. The 18yearold came down to 12 and franklin and spent the afternoon, among other street artist painting tributes to lives lost. I never expected i would have one full board to myself. It is cool to say that is a mural i painted. Reporter she is using her art as a way to heal and help her community. She is painting customdesigned earrings, selling each pair for around 40 on social media. She is donating the profits to black social justice causes. It is her portraits that she is most proud of. Today, her mom and dad are seeing Breonna Taylors mural for the first time. They are proud as well. She is doing a good job. Reporter as she goes off to college back east and out of the bay area, she leaves behind a unique mark, while carrying with her, a memory of a special young woman. It makes people wonder who it is.
