For a long time, transit officials have been looking for a way to keep us is on schedule as they tried to get through traffic. Ac transit debuted a brand new express line through oakland. John ramose has the story. Opening day for ac transits new tempo blood offline. A project that is decades in the making. It uses a 10 mile network of bus only lanes beginning in oakland and traveling down the middle of international boulevard to the bart station. The system costs 230 million and this driver pull his bus up to the station. I feel like i am talking a spaceship, i feel like i am a pilot. They have talked for decades about running bus only lanes, the street is notorious for traffic snarls which affected bus service. You are not keeping up with the pace of the program, so a lot of people would be delayed and all that. But now with dedicated lanes, the buses arrive every 10 minutes and while some have complained about the loss of traffic flow, the tempo may actually increase the number of people who might visit the area. We wanted to try it out to see how long it takes to get from downtown, that is superquick. I am excited about that e wi mo some are not excited. International boulevard used to be four lanes and now car traffic is jammed into one lane each way. The drivers frustration was obvious, a number of them gave into the temptation to get past other cars. Julio says that doesnt surprise him. People get impatient for any small thing so if they get impatient there were other holdups, like the sky who forced a bus to wait as he stopped in the middle of the street to talk to a friend. Wanting to get through traffic is what tempo is all about and now bus riders can smile as they pass a line of cars even if the drivers might not be smiling back. In oakland, john ramose, kpix 5. If you can get above this, heres another Vantage Point, that is looking west and do you see where it says salesforce . You can see another Vantage Point up above the clouds, we have hot inland today, nothing but sunshine, 98 degrees in concord, 90 in livermore san jose under sunshine the whole day, 88, oakland, 74, sunshine we will start to see a little bit there at 74 in San Francisco,e loing at what is going on, that is what we were talking about. But look at the ribbon of the marine layer squeezing for, that is a telltale sign that there is High Pressure over the bay area that is pushing down on these clouds and not allowing them to get up and over the hills and further inland, so they can only squeeze through the opening because High Pressure is pushing them down. This is monday morning, we will wake up in the morning and get clouds in through much of the bay in the north bay, if we get up here you guys have been waking up to gray for the last few days and you will do it tomorrow. The southerly flow is squeezing the marine layer through the gap and you guys are waking up, it happens pretty often. Theres a particularly strong search over the last few days, we will burn all the stuff back there tomorrow. It will be the same scenario as today the geto the early afternoon. It will be a lot quieter, but just as great. And everyone will look at sunshine, unless you are on the immediate coastline and you can see how this will play out okay, so not a whole lot of change, it does get a little bit cooler tomorrow for daytime high the mid50s were upper 50s and low 60s, for daytime highs you probably wont notice the difference these numbers are a little lower, it is not much. Redwood city 86, headword goes to 81, take a look at concord, 92. You guys were 99 today. Walnut creek, welcome back into the 80s, 89 tomorrow, oakland goes to 75.
