Good morning guys, another morning just like yesterday. Low clouds abound pretty much the entire day. In fact today. Its going to be the coolest day of the whole 7 day forecast. For some of us another ten degree drop from where we were yesterday if you were inland. 60 in concord right now and 59 in San Francisco and 54 santa rosa. Coolest day of the week and we still see some Light Coastal drizzle. Anywhere near the coast or the immediate bay you might notice a little bit of misting on the windshield as you are out driving about. Thats how thick the marine layer is and were going to warm back up this weekend and ill show you the numbers coming up in just a bit. For now theres the forecast on today. Look at the number on the far right. 77. Thats the inland number. That number was mid 90s on monday. See how dollar drive is looking out there now. Actually, we are going to give you some breaking news right now out of san jose. A heavy Police Presence right outside the Santa Clara County jail. The Sheriffs Office confirms an arrestee is barricaded with a gun inside the Basement Parking lot of this jail and shots have been fired. You can see numerous patrol units there on scene. And a bomb squad just arrived. It is not clear at this point what led to this incident. But the jail is now on lockdown. The entire jail. Our kiet do is on the way and were going to have much more on this story coming up throughout the rest of the broadcast. More than 100 people are now confirmed dead and 4,000 others hurt after this horrific explosion in lebanon. Terrorism has not been ruled out in the blast that flattened entire buildings in the capital city of beirut and cbs correspondent reports the danger may not be over yet. Reporter just after 7 00 p. M. Local, the enormous explosion rocked the port city. Sending shock waves miles away at sea. The u. S. State department is warning about toxic gases released in the blast, telling all to stay indoors. The source of the catastrophe, explosive material seized years ago and stored at the port according to the lebanese government but terrorism has not been ruled out. Houses, buildings, dead bodies in the streets. Injuries. Hospitals couldnt accept more injuries and bodies because they were full. Beirut is a destroyed city. It is like a real war zone. Reporter and tonight, the Prime Minister vowed that those responsible will pay the price. Chris livesay, cbs news, rome. Lebanons interior minister says the explosion involved ammonium nitrate. For comparison Timothy Mcveigh used two tons to blow up the Oklahoma City federal building. California is understood counting cases because of a technical problem with the states data system. Technical glitch is causing counties like contra costa to post this disclaimer on its website stating that case testing and Positivity Rate data is temporarily incomplete. The Teachers Association has voted to authorize a work action if the two sides cant reach a deal before monday. Teachers in mill valley are also being told to show up in person to instruct from their ohmpy classrooms and that has been a major Sticking Point in negotiations. [ chanting ] teachers united last night outside of the District Office to make their demand heard. And not only did they want a safe return to school, but they want to know why the district wants them to return to the classroom even for distance learning. The district says that is just one of many ideas on the table. This is our first Global Pandemic for everybody at this point. So i think everybody is just working it out and figuring out what works for their individual communities. What the needs are and trying to meet the needs to help students. I think every teacher is just right now having nightmares about how distort the year off as a face on the screen . But i think the safety of our kids and our families and our grandparents, the extended families, is even more important. But with the start of school less than two weeks away; teachers say they need a clear plan for the first day of school now. The district plans to have more information at the next board meeting. That is next thursday. And a similar story in san jose. Teachers are angry and confused about why theyll be in classrooms while students tune in from home. The district says the decision is to make sure the teachers have the technology they need. More than 600 teachers in the district want the option to teach from home. Its not safe and not nearly as safe as people want to believe that it. Ive been more concerned for the teachers and the fact that you know, if they are having to spend time on campus around others, you know, that does expose them more so than if they were able to stay home and do the same thing. Reporter the remnants of what was hurricane isaias crept across new england and into canada this morning. After making landfall in the carolinas on monday night the storm sped up the east coast leaving a deadly trail behind it. The lord spared us for another day. Reporter isaias spawned numerous tornadoes as ittured northward. At least two people were killed when a twister struck a trailer park outside of windsor, north carolina. It was the longest squariest 20 minutes i ever, ever been into. Reporter areas along the path of the storm received anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of rain. Flooding was reported from South Carolina to as far north as vermont. Its bad. It doesnt look real and something that you see on tv. Reporter by the time it reached here in new york isaias had been downgraded to a Tropical Storm but still packing winds of nearly 70 miles per hour. Trees were downed across the city including one that crushed a van in queens killing a man inside. The gusting winds also toppled utility poles and power lines. One provider at least said it could take as much as a week to get all of those houses in locations back up to full power. On monday they voted against a year long Pilot Program that would open Foothills Park to nonresidents for the First Time Since the 60s. Five Council Members voted to move forward with the program but with the list of conditions. The vote essentially delayed any decision. I believe it is illegal and it is unconstitutional for them to close the park. If think they dont do the right thing by voting to open it, then we will see them in court. Palo alto mayor fine and Council Member allison core mac were the only two in favor of allowing outsiders at Foothills Park and backed the Pilot Program without conditions. Its inequitable right . You just open up the park, it will turn out like overcrowded and overrun. Abused and ruined. Right now, it is a misdemeanor for nonresidents caught in Foothills Park. 4 44. A legal battle between two tech giants is now settled. A former uber executive has been financed to 18 months in jail for stealing trade secrets from google. At a plea hearing a federal judge called the case the biggest theft of trade secrets he had ever seen. Federal regulators are looking into the governments 765 million loan to eastman kodak. President trump announced the deal last week saying the company would use the money to produce chemical ingredients for medications. The securities and Exchange Commission opened an investigation after the wall street journal reported that kodaks stock price surged before the loan was made public. Shares had been trading at a little over 2 apiece and after the president s announcement the price jumped as high as nearly 60 a share. Consumers continue to wipe store shelves clean of clorox. The cleaning supplies manufacturer says it cant keep up with demand for its disinfecting wipes which has spiked due to the pandemic. And the material used in many wipes is also used to make masks, gowns and other medical grade items. Clorox says the shortage is likely to continue well into next year. But other than that, today is going to be very similar. Until we get to the afternoon when you are going to notice a cooler forecast for inland locations. Lets start off with where we are right now. Here are your current temperatures. Its 60 concord and 62 ond and he greecoolerd is g to notice much diffyou want t widespread the clouds are, heres the best way to do that. The overview shows us were all pretty much waking up to low grade clouds this morning. No issues with fog on the road. Thats a good thing with this. The fog will burn back to the coast by the time we get into the 10 00, 11 00 thundershower morning and then we find ourself in the sunshine and here are the daytime highs. Imland over here, again, another impressive ten degree drop for daytime highs today from where you were yesterday. Concord and livermore, 76 degrees for the daytime high in early august. Very nice setup. 77 for santa rosa and 73 in santa rosa and will be 67 in oakland and just to keep an eye on the coast and where any of the light rain might be falling this morning, look at the totals there. Very small. But you might get 0. 02 of rain in the city and perhaps Half Moon Bay gets a little less than that and its going to be another breezy one. And you will see it on saturday and sunday, low 90s for inland alameda and inland Contra Costa County and Sonoma County you guys are going to be back in the low 90s again but for today its 77 and tomorrow and friday, it will be mid 80s.
