And we are looking at temperatures a little bit cooler for today with that stronger onshore flow. So were tracking low clouds and areas of fog this morning. Especially along the coast and right around the bay. We are in the mid to upper 50s to low 60s once again and as we head through the afternoon, around the bay, looking at partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies. 63 in San Francisco. 70 in oakland. Little bit more sunshine inland and 82 in san jose and 86 for concord. So highs seasonal if not just a little bit below average for this time of year. Well talk about what you can expect as we look ahead to thened of the week with a warm up on the way. Details coming up in a few minutes. Happening today, for the first time amazons jeff bezos will testify along with the leaders of the biggest and most Influential Companies apple, facebook and google at a congressional hearing. The ceos will take the hot seat coming face the face with congressional leaders. Theyll answer questions about whether theyre too dominant. Meantime, there are discussions about this situation in portland underway. Specifically the role of federal agencies trying to provide security for local federal buildings in the area, a lot of people in the crowds say the officers have gone overboard with nonlethal projectiles. And tear gas and the mayor ted wheeler is involved in talks with federal officials right now about the tensions. He is agreeing with the protesters complaints that the officers actions are quote unconstitutional. So hes not revealing a lot about his talks right now with the feds on this but we will continue to follow it for you. Back to you. Yesterday, we saw hours of heated congressional testimony from the u. S. Attorney general. William barr fiercely defended how federal officers have responded to protests in portland. Since when is it okay to try to burn down a federal court . Is that okay . Is there okay now . No, the u. S. Marshals have a duty to stop that and defend the courthouse and thats what we are doing in portland. Democrats accused barr of using federal officers to help the president look tough on crime. Saying they came in after the protests had started to wind down. Also a Tense Exchange on racial bias with police. We dont agree theres systemic racism in the police department. Generally in this country. You seem to have a difficult time understanding systemic racism generally and institutional racism. Representative jerry nadler, the judiciary chairman, has said the house is looking into impeaching barr for his actions. The City Attorney in vallejo is about to take an extraordinary step by asking the judge to order the District Attorney to investigate two fatal Police Shootings. So far the da is refusing and kg the state attorney general to take the cases. The most recent shooting happened last month when officers were responding to a looting. An officer in an Unmarked Police car fired at Sean Monterrosa from the backseat. He thought he had a gun but it was a hammer. Police also shot willie mccoy to death last year while he was asleep at a taco bell drive thru. Police say when he woke up he reached for his gun. The current cases, lack of public trust from some community members, it is my professional judgment that our office must recuse itself from any further review of these two cases. The attorney general wrote back and declined the request citing theres no conflict of interest. She does not have the africa American Community and Hispanic Community in vallejo. Too many cases over the last three too five years, shooting and death cases, where at least a criminal prosecution should occur. Thats not happened. Since abrams took office in 2014 there have been 13 Police Shootings in vallejo. Six of them fatal. The da sent us this statement saying quote we remain diligent in our efforts to secure an independent review of the mccoy case and the investigation into the officer involved shooting death of Sean Monterrosaallejo sahey ha beens try and resolve this issue. The city will reach out to a judge by the end of the week to order the da to conduct the investigation if nothing changes. Revel, a popular moped lead sharing Service Suspended its service in new york city after two deadly crashes. But it is continuing to operate in oakland. The two crashes happened within days of each other. One killed a wcbs tv reporter who was thrown from a revel. A warning this morning about mysterious packages of seeds arriving in mailboxes in california and across the country. The strange packages appear to be from china. So far, people in eight states have received seeds they never ordered. The usda is investigating whether they are a prank, an internet scam, or an act of bioterrorism which could introduce disease to our environment. The package was too odd to throw away and you know, i did have family and friends come over and they said oh plant it and see what comes up. Worst Case Scenario its something toxic or harmful. So low clouds and areas of fog along the coast and right around the bay this morning giving the inland spots catching that gray start to our day. All because of that strong onshore flow. We are in the mid to upper 50s to low 60s at this hour. Oaklan san jose at 62. And 53 for santa rosa. Lets check the visibility. Were down to a mile in santa rosa. And three miles at halfmoon bay. Along the coast. So current winds, looking at those westerly winds ou thwan9 Miles Per Hour at sfo. 6 in oakland and another breezy start in fairfield with 21mile perhour winds. The typical july weather pattern continues for us and in fact with that stronger ocean breeze were looking at temperatures a little bit cooler compared to yesterday. So lets show you futurecast and as we take you hour by hour and were going to see the skies clear inland. And then around the bay, partly sunny. So well go partly sunny to mostly cloudy along at least right around the bay and then along the coast, that cloud cover sticks around for you. As we look ahead to tomorrow, same story. Low clouds and areas of fog. Along the coast right around the bay and even some of the inland spots catching that gray start and then the cloud cover pulls back to the coast for tomorrow in the afternoon. For the south bay we go, looking at the daytime highs again, a little bit cooler compared to yesterday. 82 in santa clara as well as for san jose and 84 for campbell. 81 for sunnyvale as well as for cupertino. For the east bay, looking at 86 in concord and for pleasant hill. 88 for pittsburg and low 90s for antioch and brentwood and for the trivalley, in the mid 80s. So 84 in dublin and looking at 86 for pleasanton. And then around the bay, just 63 for San Francisco. 62 in sausalito and daly city. Cool around the bay although the east bay 70 in oakland and for alameda. You will see a little bit more sunshine so a d clouds for you. And for the north bay, mid to upper 70s to low 80s. So heres the extended forecast as we warm things up. Beginning tomorrow, that increases with those temperatures friday and especially as we look ahead to the weekend. Going to the Golden Gate Bridge this morning, limited visibility so be carolful as you work across the span. Likely the same as you head down to waldo grade there near sausalito near the tunnel. Other than that, you are still at the limit along 101. 15 minutes southbound from the richmondsan rafael bridge to the Golden Gate Bridge. Rest of bay area bridges are very quiet and live look here at the bay bridge. Few cars out there but overall, its been a pretty easy ride out of oakland as you work your way into the city. And the san mateo bridge, 13 minutes right now as you drive between 880 and hayward over to 101 as you commute into the foster city area. No delays along 101 through the peninsula and in fact, heres an overview here for the most part, were seeing a lot of green on our sensors so very good start to the wednesday morning ride. Where we are seeing brake lights is the typical slowdowns as you head into the Altamont Pass from tracy. Right around grant line thats the slowest spot right now at 29 Miles Per Hour.
