To San Francisco where one person is dead and another injured in a house fire that happened after 11 00 on sacramento street. Authorities say the victim was injured in the fire and is expected to be okay. No word tonight on the cause. The other big story we are following is that california continues to see a certain covid19 cases. In the past 24 hours, the state reported more than 8400 new cases, bringing the total number two nearly 321,000. There have been more than 7000 dead in the state. Meanwhile, the outbreak at san quentin is not getting any better. We learned two more inmates have died. That brings the death toll nine 1500 inmates are infected with the virus. The state has ordered new restrictions for snap Sonoma County to help stop the spread of the virus. Restaurants, wineries, bars and other businesses will no longer be allowed to serve customers inside starting tomorrow. Only Outdoor Service will be allowed with proper precautions. The state has been monitoring the countys caseload since friday. That is when it was placed on the governors covid19 watchlist. We learned today that Alameda County has been added to the states watchlist. It comes amid rising covid19 cases. Counties placed on the list are advised to close indoor activities for at least three weeks. Local officials have already banned dine in service in Alameda County. While Outdoor Dining is technically prohibited in Alameda County, some cities are still going ahead with it. In Contra Costa County, and 8 positive rate has triggered a reopening reversal. Even though we think of that part of the bay area is usually being hotter than the part right in the bay anyway, today was more so. If you do the comparison for how high these numbers are above average, it is not fair. Concord is 15 degrees above average. Meanwhile, oakland was only eight above average. San francisco four degrees above average. You were getting picked on today. Tomorrow, things start coming down and i will show you the good news coming up in the complete forecast. Developing right now, 21 people are injured, including 17 soldiers after an explosion and fire aboard that ship at the naval base in san diego. Crews have been fighting to get the flames under control since this morning. It is not clear what started the fire aboard the 840 foot assault vehicle. The sailors have been accounted for in the ship was docked for routine maintenance when the fire broke out, sending smoke billowing across the san diego skyline. The ship is so big the fire chief said they dont expect the flames to be put out anytime soon. This could very well go on for days. There is no way to make an offensive attack on the ship, so the navy will work with the county as far as the Health Concerns from the smoke that will more than likely be here for days. That ship has the capacity to deploy and land helicopters, smaller boats and amphibious vehicles. Search and rescue team is calming the Sierra National forest on the hunt for a 54 yearold woman who mysteriously vanished on a solo camping trip. The family of Sandra Johnson hughes said they hadnt heard from her since late june. Deputies say her car was discovered last week near a campground in the Madera County forest. It appeared to have hit a tree. She was also spotted by hikers on july 4 weekend in the Chiquita Lake area. She was barefoot with a bruise on her face. We will monitor the protest and have another update later in the show. Are the second time this week, a coyote was spotted in the bay area. It first approached somebody who was walking in the area of reimer drive. That coyote then ran towards a bicyclist, but nobody was hurt. Police and Animal Services were called in to help. The coyote got away. It was last seen running into an orchard. It is a second coyote encounter in the past week. The first happened on thursday at the park. A child was bitten on the leg. It happened near a park bathroom. Fish and wildlife are investigating both incidents. A bay area tech ceo caught on camera making racist comments about an asian couple is resigning from his company. This video of Michael Lofthouse making hostile comments at an asian family at a restaurant triggered massive backlights online. He is stepping down from consulting company, solid8. It is unclear whether he was forced out or is resigning voluntarily. He said, my comments toward the family involved were racist, hurtful and deeply inappropriate. In santa rosa two men were killed and two more injured in an overnight crash. Police say a bmw that was probably speeding collided with a cadillac after midnight. The two men and the cadillac died. Three others in the bmw were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role. In a few hours, several lanes are closing on the golden gate bridge. Work crews are doing maintenance on the toll plaza. They will be working in both directions starting at 8 00 tonight. Drivers should expect delays. Work is expected to wrap up by the morning commute around 8 00 a. M. On the fire watch, fire crews were able to get the upper hand in a grass fire in martinez that sparked this afternoon. At one point, flames did threaten structures, but no homes were damaged and nobody was hurt. In Solano County tonight, an investigation is underway after a series of grass fires occurred. And all, six fires broke out along interstate 505. Crews scrambled to get the flames under control and to protect nearby homes. Look how close we are. Is the house going to get burned . And, in santa rosa firefighters say a brush fire was sparked by somebody cooking in a homeless encampment. That happened last night. If we switch this from live satellite into the future cast, we will pick up on this little area and it will get us into tomorrow morning. Notice how the marine layer redeveloped on the coast and it streamlines and brings in cooler air into the bay. It is not so much that we will cool down a lot here. We will go down maybe 34 degrees tomorrow. But, the search will cool you down here. It will be a big drop. Tomorrow really is a big improvement. Tomorrow morning, nothing is changed yet, except for low, gray clouds in and around the bay. We go back down into the mid to upper 50s. The daytime highs tomorrow, this is not a cold step, dont get me wrong. But, it is a cool down. San jose hit 91 yesterday, 90 today and you will do 86 tomorrow. This is a good example of what i mean. We will cool down in the bay, but i dont think you will notice a dramatic change. Here you will. 90 for concord, 102 today. 88 in livermore with 101 today. Let come back into the east bay. Oakland will top out at 73. It is about 67 degrees drop. Santa rosa will be in the mid 90s. It is only 88 tomorrow. Still hot in mendocino county. This will not be Strong Enough to make a dramatic enough improvement up here. Still in the mid to upper 90s. Then, we are just going to stay right here. The 7day forecast shows you we are right about 90 if you are inland. If you look at the bay, there is not a lot of change. For the coast, we will stay in the mid 60s with dsup and tuesd in the bay and along the coast that is a good sign that we are going to get that into more of our marine layer search, and it will be a lot more comfortable. This demonstration started around 4 00. They marched onto the courthouse, then from the courthouse to the park. The courthouse is the site of a large black lives matter street mural. You may have seen that viral video from july 4 wear the white couple painted over the mural with black paint. The artist had a permit to make the mural. The District Attorney has charged the couple with three misdemeanors apiece, including a hate crime charge. This woman said she organized this demonstration because she wanted her community to show where they stand on the issue. That is not happening in my town. She was going on about her town. This is our town and there are minorities in it. The town needs to start taking some sort of stand one way or the other to make it very clear where its values lie. Reporter the demonstration went through the streets pretty quickly. They have been in the park for the bulk of the afternoon in downtown martinez. As i mentioned earlier, the police chief said there may have been some trouble. There may have been folks inclined to bring weapons to counter demonstrate. We have not seen any of that today as this demonstration is peaceful and continues. Thank you. Education secretary echoed President Trumps push to get kids back into the classroom, saying there is a lot of wiggle room in cdc guidelines. The cdc guidelines are just that, meant to be flexible and meant to be applied is appropriate for the situation. If we come back for the wider view and put some numbers on this, this was not an equal heat wave this weekend. It was 102 in concord, but 79 in oakland. 90 in san jose is hot, but it is not 102 hot. There were some real differences. Wallman creek hit 101. Just over the hill it was 79. 101 in pleasanton. If you look at a comparison for how far above average this was, this tells the story. We all know it gets harder over here than it does in the bay. If you look at the comparison between how hot it was today compared to average, this was not equal. You were 50 degrees above average, which is normally what we see in concord. Here is the good news. I will switch this from today to tomorrow. Watched the colors go away and the numbers come down. You will only be three degrees abovage in concord. Livermore will hit the mark and the numbers come in better. There are the current numbers. We got you down to 96 in concord, 93 livermore. Let me get specific with you on daytime highs for tomorrow, since we have had quite a run of heat. Let me call out your particular part of the bay area. Santa clara 85 tomorrow. San jose 86. What is an average daytime high in livermore this time of year . 88, a lot better than you were today. Dublin is going to 84, we will oakland at santa rosa at 84. 73. Nevada goes to 83, santa rosa 88. Up top it will be better in mendocino county. Just not quite as much as it will be in many other places. Overnight lows will stay relatively warm. I will get you back down into the mid 50s tomorrow morning. One other addition to our sky tomorrow, particularly in and around the bay, we have been looking at clear skies this whole weekend. Every day we have had the heat we lost the marine layer. If we put it into the future cast and played is forward, watch the marine layer redevelop and work its way back into the bay.
