Reporter has been living in berlin for the past decade and he said downloading the app was voluntary. More people who have it the more effective it is and i thought it was something i should do to help get back to a sense of normalcy quicker. Reporter here is the way the app he is using and most like it work. On your way through the day from home to work or exercise or shopping, it documents the digital encounter between two smart phones. If somebody using the app test positive for the coronavirus, they can notify others if they choose to. If you had contact with that person, the app will quickly inform you. Any contact had is on your phone and receive information. Reporter corona warn doesnt allow you to know where you met the infected person and vice versa the infected person cant tell who is informed and most of those apps are designed that way. However, it doesnt guarantee a privacy protection. I think there certainly are some privacy concerns. Reporter quentin had the newly formed International Digital accountability counsel that analyzed privacy protocols on 108 covid19 related apps in 41 countries. 23 of them used specifically for Contact Tracing. In some instances the apps didnt even have a Privacy Policy and that is other instances where there was a Privacy Policy that was clearly not there. When you download an app sometimes you get a request to say is it okay if we look at the contents and is it okay if we read some of the data on your phone. That can be a gateway of passing information along to third parties.
