Three statues were taken down in the park. The video shows the statue of the founder of the Mission System and a spanish priest, st. Junipero serra, Whose Mission was to convert native americans to christianity. He was blamed for destroying the data our of life. Also Francis Scott key that enslaved people and was torn down and dragged through the grass. The ropes were tied to all of them as they were taken down. For decades these statues stood tall at the Golden Gate Park but rekindling painful memories on people on abuse and racism. Protesters alto took down the statue of ulysses s. Grant, lead to of owned slaves before the start of the civil war. The statue was toppled lying in the pathway at the park. There was much antiracism graffiti found at the bottom of the statue. The statue of st. Junipero serra was sprayed with graffiti and there was applause and cheers as the statues were taken down. There have been a host of monuments torn down around the country during protests against racial injustice. At the nations capitol protesters burned the statue of general albert pike last night. This was the only confederate statue in the district. Shortly afterward President Trump, not the city Police Department, knocking the Police Department for allowing it to happen, calling for the arrested demonstrators. This removal comes on the 155th anniversary of juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the u. S. The unions holding walkouts said they wanted to show commitment to racial equality and social justice. Sports returning to action could be in jeopardy with more athletes testing positive for the coronavirus. Major League Baseball announced a temporary closure for all the Training Facilities for the cleaning.
