This woman loves her job at the hospital, but she worries about getting infected with covid19 while caring for patients. Its frustrating and scary because a lot of us have families that we live with. Reporter about three weeks ago, 37 workers at saint rose had tested positive, many of them in her unit. She was not infected, she said she found out about the outbreak to coworkers and felt management could have done a better job of communicating with them. In california, state healthcare Officials Say roughly 11,000 healthcare workers have tested positive for covid19. 68 of them have died, in Alameda County, more than 300 workers have been infected. We no longer are accepting emergency patients but we are taking cardiac patients. Reporter the Spokesman Says like most medical facilities once they found out about an outbreak, they went with the process of quarantine, testing, and improving common areas like the break room to reduce transmission. Before you come to saint rose, we require patients who are incoming take a covid19 test several days before they come in. Reporter a veteran nurse here defended the hospital saying management did a good job of protecting the workers and the patients, the hospital is not aware of any staff to patient infection cases, by the way they say half of those, roughly half of the infected workers have recovered and come back to work and they dont know when they will start to accept new patients again. The city of San Francisco has agreed to move Homeless People in 10 out of the tenderloin. This is all because of a settlement that was reached between the city and plaintiffs, including the Tenderloin Merchants Association and Property Owners association. Uc hastings also sued the city weeks ago in an appeal to improve sanitation and reduce overcrowding on sidewalks during the coronavirus pandemic. The city initially proposed just clearing out a few blocks. Buitplans move 70 percent of the areas Homeless Population into hotels or safe sleeping sites by july 20. Some city workers in hayward have accepted furloughs to help with budget cuts from the pandemic. The city is facing a possible nine point Million Dollars drop in revenue to help cut costs, some city Union Workers have agreed to take up to 55 hours of unpaid furloughs. It could save the city nearly 700,000 over the next year. Oaklands mayor shared her thoughts about the current challenges that the city of oakland faces with policing. People are in a lot of grief, rage, righteous anger, they are demanding change, and i believe oakland was made for this moment.
