The other citizen did not want to be identified but together they subdued the suspect, air force Sergeant Stephen carrillo and held him until deputies could arrive. Tom said it was long enough for carrillo to say this. But at that point i realized he was maybe struggling from ptsd or some internal issues. At a news conference, santa cruz sergeant said carrillo will be brought today to justice. He was dangous and an angry man intent on bringing harm to police officers. Sergeant gutzwiller and one other deputy were ambushed when they responded to carrillos remote property after a witness called 911 after seeing weapons and bombs in carrillos white van. Carrillo is an active duty Staff Sergeant and also being investigated for possible ties of a killing of a professional Security Guard in oakland last week because a white van was also seen leaving the crime scene.
