Reporter its not a new question, who is going to police the police . There are even more newer and nuanced versions. Reporter the San Jose PoliceOfficers Association agrees that change is needed. They are pushing for National Training standards and a National Database of officers who have been fired or resigned because of misconduct. They do not however support a common call of activists to defund the police. If you defund the police the only people it will hurt isnt the police force, its the community they serve. The calls for service will double, triple. Reporter some reformers argue the answer lies not in specific policy changes so to speak but rather in systemic, transformational changes in police culture. The only thing that will keep an incident such as the George Floyd Murder from happening again is a complete cultural change in policing.
