People are trying, and not always accomplishing that goal. Much of the green space of Golden Gate Park is taken up with picnickers. Yet, you can see how people are working very hard to maintain social distance. I dont think everybodys succeeding, but ive seen people try, which is the most we can hope for right now. Seems like people are behaving themselves, theres some kind of crowded barbeque picnic areas, but other than that, it seems people are having a great time and being respectful. Also, nowhere near the emptiness weve seen in the last few months. Deloris park is crowded. While the overwhelming majority of folks seem to be trying to keep away from others, some are unsuccessful, not everyone is trying that hard. To keep this in context today, we went around to check the hot spots, the places we knew there would be a volume of people. Again, nowhere near the crowds that we would normally get on memorial day. The parking lots are closed, but visitors still filled the spots in the nearby streets. Hikers were also out on the trials. This is what it looked like at sibly park. Most people seemed to be keeping their distance. Everybody has been very respectful and you know, people who dont have masks just kind of go to the side and face the other way. So its been very good. It was a similar scene at skyline gate in oakland. As you can see, there were plenty of signs to remind all those hikers about the rules which people seem to be following. And the city of san leandro is implementing some new park rules this holiday weekend. Access to the marina park will be respected. People will be able to walk and enjoy some outdoor activities, but play structures and the use of all barbeques will be off limits. The rules will be in place until tuesday morning. Pressure is on, that means air quality is down. Weve seen a lot less traffic, but still tomorrow is a spare the air day. Officials say a mix of hot temperatures, and tail pipe exhaust will lead to unhealthful levels of smog. As more counties start moving into phase 2 of reopening, Health Officials say its especially important to wear your face masks. Renters would have up to 90 days after the expiration of the resolution to repay back rent, and landlords will be able to seek payment of unpaid rent after the expiration of the local emergency. In San Francisco, investigators trying to figure out why that huge fire yesterday started the one that ripped through a warehouse in fishermans wharf. The fire started yesterday before dawn. It took crews more than seven hours to contain the blaze. One firefighter did have a minor injury. That is going to be part of the story, heres where we sit now. We hit 92 in concord today. In general, most places here are now down two or three degrees from where we are. About 15 degrees above average in general for most of us here today. Lets look at where were going to go for tomorrow morning when we bottom out. The morning lows, this map is usually blue. Its color coded. Were in the greens and yellows. I want you to look inland, concord, livermore, staying in the 60s. Overthe next three days with morning lows staying in the 60s in and around the bay as well. Some of those lows will be approaching overnight record values. I know it felt hot out there today, but the heat wave starts tomorrow. It doesnt expire until 7 00 p. M. On thursday. Thats four days. Lets get specific about locations. If youre shaded in the orange, youre really the focus of this, which is why those valleys, those inland valleys, its really a spotlight for you. Not to say its not going to be hot tomorrow in fremont. Its going to be just enough hotter for these locations, where the heat advisory is in effect to raise the level of awareness. Theres tomorrow. Thats a good example of how many of us will feel inland. I didnt want to leave the north bay out. Theres your comparison with San Francisco. Its going to be 80 tomorrow. So lets get an idea on whats going on, and why this heat wave is going to be stuck around for four days. Thats a long period of time to arou 100ur yocan e thcldsare going up. What you couldnt see is the area of low pressure right there. This is a telltale pattern. I know this map looks weird, it looks kind of like a van gogh painting. Look what the streamlines are doing. Weve got an area of High Pressure centered right over us. But on either side, theres a well defined area of low pressure. See him . Theres one low. Theres another low. There we are right in the middle of the high. If you use your imagination, it almost likes like Princess Leia. Were even bigger geeks than that. They use a greek letter analogy for this. That looks like omega. This is important to know, when you get an omega block over you, patterns will last for days on end.
