Nearby workers say what began as a small fire spread quickly and in less nan five minutes, they say the whole buildings was in flames pouring black smoke into the Early Morning sky. There is no word on the cause of the fire this morning. One firefighter was hurt, but is okay. There is another silver lining. Two fire boats helped save the ss Jeremiah Obrien. That is a world war ii warship that is docked next to the warehouse where the fire started. Many say it is amazing that firefighters were able too save that historic ship. The captain of the vessel showed us some new video showing how close the flames were to the ship. As firefighters kept a close eye on the smoldering mangled videhos afflames gutted and collapsed the nearby warehouse. Youre talking 35 feet from 1,000degree fire. The ss Jeremiah Obrien is in danger. Firefighters dowsed the warehouse with Water Cannons from the fire boat. Our aggressive and swift actions saved this historic Jeremiah Obrien. They knew they couldnt save the pier structure but they knew they had to save the ship. More than 2700 were built during world war ii to deliver ammunitions and tanks.
