Tonight he spoke to a supervisor who said the sites should be move to underserved neighborhoods. Reporter we have been watching the testing spot for several days, today, not much reporting, they are testing way under capacity. Some are accusing the Public Health department of having too little urgency on this and other issues related to covid 19. This is a state of emergency. Reporter tonight, a diein on a San Francisco street. Reporter these activists are upset about the mayors response to homelessness during the covid19 crisis. They say the administration is not getting folks into hotels as fast as they could. Vulnerable people who are living in streets, who are living in shelters it san opportunity to house them. There are people willing to make it happen and happen quickly. We put the shelter in place orders. Reporter the mayor is making National Attention for a stay at home in the city. She is under pressure to move quickly on other fronts. Citywide San Francisco has the capacity to test 5800 people a day. Officials are saying 500 a day are getting tested. Reporter she only has 3 clients, barely enough income to pay some of her utilities and buy groceries, nothing left over for rent. No money is coming in, am i supposed to be getting that from . According to new numbers released from Uc Berkeley Housing invasion there are more than a quarter of a million households where the ability to pay rent is impacted by covid 19. Looking at the average cost of rent and the minimum monthly Unemployment Benefits including 600 from the cares act, the cost of rent will eat up 82 of those minimum Unemployment Benefits, in the south bay, 125,000 households impacted and based on the same formula, rent would take up about 93 of the benefits.
