Words of warning in the bay area as we begin a warm week and the measures in place to reduce the risk of overcrowding. A call for sweeping reform at assisted living facilities after at least ten deaths at a peninsula care home, what one advocate says needs to be done. The unemployment rates in napa county are supposed to be some of the highest in the bay area next month as the Tourism Industry shuts down, how some wineries are trying to adjust to a new way of doing business. Its just about 6 00 a. M. On this saturday april 25th, im devin fealy. Emily turner has n i theerng off. Le nter min eaul beautifulun a what helps not having the clouds blocking the view. I think tomorrow morning well probably have more of that but for today most of us are waking up to relatively clear skies and if you noticed the warmup yesterday, i want to talk to you about that. Things are going to have to start coming down a bit. First lets start off outside from the top of the sales force to the bay. How does it feel . Midtoupper 50s very much like youd expect. Heres your headlines for today. For the daytime highs today were all going to be on average just about 5 degrees cooler than we were yesterday. So you may notice that. Its subtle, and well pull back from those highs. We were near 90 for many inland locations. It will be more mid80s. Low clouds returning to the coast todays special value and well see them a little bit more inland tomorrow, but then were going to turn our attention to next week because there is another warm up coming our way and ill show that to you in the sevenday forecast coming up in just a few minutes. For now back over to you. This weekend could be crucial in determining just how long the bay area stayathome orders continue. As kpix 5s betty yu tells us, its likely the lockdown will be extended for weeks, possibly a month. We saw plenty of people lounging and enjoying the sun at delores park in the mission, despite the parking lots being closed and a sign urging people to stay away territory beach and stay home, ocean beach wasnt exactly empty this evening. The same story at the precedio, tuss to cars. People who are out there in the communities, and because they have on a mask, theyre still not social distancing themselves from one another. Today, San Francisco has 1,340 positive cases covid19. 22 people have died. And the number of people the icu has gone up. Will the Public Health order get extended isnt likelihood thatll happen is very likely. And sfpd commended the public for not celebrating 4 20 in public parks but says there are people and businesses who continue to not listen to the stayathome order and the department has given out 17 citations, admonished 7,300 people and given hundreds of warnings. If youre going to sit in the car, make a long drive and expect to find parking to go to a closed beach, its very unlikely. I want to encourage people where your temptation is higher. Solano county is the first in the bay area to extend its stayathome order an extra two weeks through may 17th. And discouraging large gathering at popular beaches in an effort to try and control the influx of the people at the coast, youll have to pay for parking. The other big change, face coverings. Starting this morning they are mandatory for anyone over the age of 12. You must wear a mask when going to businesses or riding the bus, going to the doctor. The facility continues to operate as the department of Public Health steps in toelru caring for them has been a real privilege and i want to continue to do that as best i can understand these conditions. I wouldnt want to be there and i wouldnt want my mother there. If you had ten people who died how many others are enfected. Nursing home advocates, including pat mcginnis who called for reform at assisting living facilities says sweeping changes need to be reviewed before more lives are lost and the current practices are failing. Its not like nursing homes. They dont have to have staffing ratios. They dont have to have health personnel. They dont have to have the kind of Infection Control and procedures we need in nursing homes. Its awful. But it happens. Maybe one worker came in, and it happened. Its not because it was dirty. Reporter this man said his mother and aunt are residents. Its unfortunate. Nobody could have planned for this. Reporter the facility which was inspected by the department of social services in january was in compliance and no deficiencies were found. Rorter researchers at the university of pacific expect the unemployment rates in napa county to reach 22 next month that would be one of the highest in the bay area, thats because the Tourism Industry is at a standstill as wineries remain closed, but some wineries are trying to adjust to a new way of doing business. That is the one on the cliff house looking down at ocean beach and there are no clouds there. There are no clouds there yet.
