The order from the Health Department requires people to wear a facial covering before going into an indoor facility outside of their home, any enclosed space, or outdoor space where they cant keep six feet social distance. Many people heard about the order and ran out to buy masks tonight. We cant really find them anywhere. Reporter the Health Department says it doesnt necessarily have to be a mask, and they urged the public to not by surgical or n95 masks. It any fabric or clothe that covers the mouth or nose. Reporter county Health Officials have issued new rules, and they say if Nursing Homes dont follow them, it could result in a misdemeanor or a fine. Theyve been telling them to follow the guidelines for weeks. We realized not all of them were following it, so we wanted to make it more mandatory. Reporter the new order says staffers and visitors must wear a surgical or cloth mask. Also all staffers and visitors will be screened and not allowed if they have high temperatures or other symptoms of the coronavirus. Gateway care center has had 60 cases and at least 9 deaths. Why didnt they have masks, and if they did, why werent they using them . Reporter this man and his wife have filed a lawsuit. These kinds of numbers will justify an investigation, if workers were required to work even if they have symptoms of the virus. Thats criminal conduct. Reporter hes referring to our reporting last week where staffers were allegedly told they had to work, even though they tested positive. People positive with no symptoms can come to work with a mask, and again have other criteria to follow. And theyd only take care of patients who already have the disease. Reporter a Union City Council member said he was informed tonight that his grandmother passed away. A lot of tears were shed when we spoke to her. You know, its just in gods hands now.
