Reporter county Health Officials have issued new rules, and they say if Nursing Homes dont follow them, it could result in a misdemeanor or a fine. Theyve been telling them to follow the guidelines for weeks. We realized not all of them were following it, so we wanted to make it more mandatory. Reporter the new order says staffers and visitors must wear a surgical or cloth mask. Also all staffers and visitors will be screened and not allowed if they have high temperatures or other symptoms of the coronavirus. Gateway care center has had 60 cases and at least 9 deaths. Why didnt they have masks, and if they did, why werent they using them . Reporter this man and his wife have filed a lawsuit. These kinds of numbers will justify an investigation, if workers were required to work even if they have symptoms of the virus. Thats criminal conduct. Reporter hes referring to our reporting last week where staffers were allegedly told they had to work, even though they tested positive. People positive with no symptoms can come to work with a mask, and again have other criteria to follow. And theyd only take care of patients who already have the disease.
