Then, by the middle of the afternoon we are all getting good rain. This is not going to be heavy stuff but it will be enough that things will get wet and it will slow down any driving you happen to be doing on this saturday. That we cahelp in the group says it has already made more than 200 masks and is receiving more requests each day. Weve got more rain coming our way so lets track both weekend days, sunday will be rainier than saturday but they both got rain on them and if you look at the view from the top of the Salesforce Tower looking east you can tell the clouds are looking pretty interesting. Lets take a look at radar, most of the rain is up on the far northwest coast but looking at the closer view we started to get some showers popping up in the far north bay right through Sonoma County. If we take that to future cast and play it forward now we see when the better rain will come through, late this morning. And right to the middle of the day we see some of the better rain getting us to write about noon, that is a good organized line of moderate rain sweeping across the entire bay area. So from late morning through early afternoon today plan on rain. It wont be too heavy and shouldnt be like downpours but its enough we all going to get enough for the streets to be slick, maybe a quarter inch which is decent for us but not as impressive as sundays. Once we get to Late Afternoon and early evening we should get a break. There will be rain in the overnight hours going into sunday and you can see that showing up there but it is not until we get to sunday morning when the next wave of rain gets here. You can see another really well organized band of heavier showers moving across the entire bay area, this gets us to around the 10 oclock hour tomorrow and when you see an organized line like that it shows you where there is a front coming through and youre going to get some better showers, some of the heavier rain and the most widespread. That is tomorrow, late morning going into early afternoon and then by late in the afternoon that clears. So there is a similarity to both days in that the best of the rain comes through in the first half of the day and if we add up todays totals we get perhaps anywhere from a quarter of an inch to 4 10 of an inch and those totals are decent but im going to add in sundayan wah whhapps. Of over aninch fo the mefinish sundays rain. That really wont happen until we get to sunday afternoon and evening. The other thing to keep in mind is its going to get windy on sunday when the heavier rain comes in, you might notice a breeze today but tomorrow when that leading edge of the cold front moves ugwindup. So sunday morning is windy and by sunday afternoon it should turn into little more of a breeze and there should be good snow in the sierra from this, a. B. Another 3 feet of snow in the higher elevations. In fact there is a winter storm warning in place this afternoon that doesnt expire until monday in the afternoon and travel is going to be difficult. Long delays are likely for anyone who has to go through the mountains. So we look at the 7day forecast, saturday and sunday we covered rain, monday there could be some left over showers but probably not much left, scattered showers at best and the main thing about monday and tuesday, which you do not see on the 7day forecast, are the cold morning lows, especially for those inland sheltered valleys. We are dropping back to the upper 30s in Sonoma County, livermore, concord, and everyone else should stay in mis. Then y anxt. It looks pretty good once we get to the second half of the week. And we still need the rain. This will help, it does put a dent in the deficits. We are about 50 of where we should be for rainfall, this doesnt bump us to 60 but at least it puts us perhaps in the mid to upper 50s and thats good. Thank you. Lley is nmally bustling this time of year. Excellent news to tie into that story about the sierra, there are 3 feet of snow coming to the mountains between this afternoon and monday. Its going to be difficult driving up there and weve already heard they dont want you going up there anyway. In addition to snow we are going to get rain bay area wide and on sunday is going to get windy. Lets take this in order, rain first. The rain is already beginning up in the north bay we are seeing the first showers having just made it to 101, hillsboro is getting a good amount of light rain moving across 101 and headed over toward santa rosa and thats a beautiful organized line of rain extending in the northeasterly direction. We are going to see several of these march across the bay area all day today so lets come back for the wide view and put it into future cast, and bring those forward. This gets us to the late morning and then we are taking a look at the 11 oclock hour into early afternoon and this is when some of the best of the rain for saturday moves across the entire bay area. There is our organized line, it gets everybody and here we are watching it work its way down to the south bay. Once we get into the evening we get a break. Then the next wave gets here tomorrow morning. Sundays timing for the rain will be very similar to today but the intensity on sundays rain is going to be a little higher. Better rain on sunday, they are both decent rainmakers for us but sundays rain is a little heavier and more no gets us to morning and look at that organized line, its a good band of heavy rain marching across the entire bay area just like saturday. And by the time we get into the early evening on sunday the rain comes to an end. If you look at totals, first ill put saturdays numbers on and we put up about 4 10 of an inch and some higher spots but when i add sundays rainfall totals, and lets look at nevada and santa rosa, we barely picked up to 107 inch for saturday in san jose, and then for sunday the total goes up to 3 10 of an inch. But you will notice the big difference in the bay. We get close to a half inch on saturday and close to 6 10 of an inch on sunday. There is snow in the sierra, 3 feet of snow up at donner pass and if you look at th 2 oclock this afternoon until noon on monday winter storm warning, travel will be difficult with long delays likely. As far as temperatures go, right around 60. Its not so much the afternoon daytime highs you will notice with this, it is the uptick in the wind on sunday that will make this feel colder and then the morning lows which actually dont show up here in the 7day forecast, so i want to spotlight monday and tuesday morning. The rain starts winding down for monday and tuesday and we may have a few leftover showers but it shouldnt be much. What you do notice on monday and tuesday is morning lows dipping down into the upper 30s for those sheltered inland valleys. If you are should stay around t so the snow is probably even more significant than the rain. I wish that were true and you would think so when you hear 3 feet of snow, we are about about, we are at about 50 of the snow, but we will probably still be in that range even after 3 feet of snow by the time this is all done.
