The consumer is going to be a lot of options on repaying the payments they didnt pay. It goes from okay, im back at work and can pay the payment all the way to paying it over a series of months or adding it to the end of their mortgage. So theres a lot of options for them to come up with the payment. Reporter as always, documentation is crucial here, so first, before you miss a payment, have documentation as to why you cant pay, and then reach out to the lender and document you did reach out to the lender. That makes it much more likely that any kind of late payment would be forgiven. This is really interesting. You mentioned property taxes, people having it with their regular mortgage payment, and Mortgage Companies pay the taxes, but how will Property Tax Relief actually work . Reporter so thats a little murky. It depends on which city or county and how theyre doing it. One of the best pieces of advice was from contra costa county. Theyre taking a proactive approach and telling people to be delinquent on your taxes, which is probably painful for some to hear, but theyre not opening up a portal on their website until april 11th. And in all cases tell people most likely this is not going to be forgiven. Youll have to pay these things at some point in the future. Reporter right, if you need to pay, do it. At some point, youll have to pay. Thank you for that. And keep sending your stories and ideas to project home. See all the reports on our website. Weve only received about 50 percent of what we should have. The next good chance heads our way saturday and sunday.
