Some of those passengers who have tested positive for the coronavirus not have a temporary home at a hotel in san carlos. The fairfield inn and suites took in at least seven passengers plan more work such overnight and the hotel is for ose who tested positive for the coronavirus but are not sick enough to be hospitalized. But offense has been set up as a perimeter and it is being guarded every minute of the day by u. S. Marshals with the help of the chp. They are year, they are part of our community in san carlos. Those folks are not going to be in downtown laurel street having dinner. They are stuck in that hotel until they pass the testing procedures. All hotel staff were told they would be paid but would not be working there until the passengers leave. In the bay area, glenn park elementary and San Francisco is closing immediately after seven students have reported respiratory illness. The department of Public Health is working on getting those students tested for coronavirus. Students, their family and staff are being asked to self quarantine. There are no confirmed cases of the virus at glenn parker any San Francisco schools, but come out of an abundance of caution, as if usd is making a decision to close all schools starting on monday, the closure will last at least three weeks of last week overlapping with spring break. We need the time to plan, prepare and train staff on how to operate schools during this epidemic. If there was somebody who was affected by the virus, is spread very quickly in a school, so, lets take a couple weeks, you know, where we dont have school and lets figure out what we need to do next. Students who qualify for free lunches will continue to get their meals but details on that have not been released yet. The district serves more than 55,000 students. We are also getting word Berkeley High school will be closed starting today. All Berkeley High passes will be canceled so that staff can have time to work on options for students to do at Home Learning while they are away from school. The remainder of berkeley unified schools will closed starting monday through april first. San mateo, Union High School says its schools including the adult school will be shut down starting monday through march 30th. Unified is closing this monday for three weeks.
