Than right now than it was this time yesterday in san hoe say. Its a similar story across the bay. Lets start off by showing you what it looks like out there right now from the camera on Treasure Island. Looking back towards the skyline. So in San Francisco, we will put the current numbers in front of this now. It is a cool 51 in San Francisco. Not that bad. But thats about 6 degrees cooler than yesterday. Now look at santa rosa. 36 degrees. It is just two degrees colder than it was yesterday. It was already cold enough in santa rosa yesterday. Two degrees wont make that big of a difference n south bay, you will notice its going to feel colder when you step outside today down in santa clara county. Thankfully, you dont have to deal with fog. Not down in the south bay or east bay. But look what happens when we get up to santa rosa in the north bay. Clears clear skies that allows the temperatures to go down to 36 the coldest spot in santa rosa. Same clear skies are responsible for the cold number is allowing the fog to develop in the north bay. So give yourself extra time before you hit the road. Up there, and here are the daytime highs today. In the low to mid60s. Plan on more low clouds around, to particularly the coast and the bay today. I will spotlight that coming up in a bit. And we are on track for daytime highs to reach near will 80 in just a few days for inland spots. I will be back with more on that in a few minutes. With little rain so far in february, the federal Drought Monitor says 59 of california is experiencing abnormally dry conditions. A comparison of maps from december and this week shows the areas of dryness expanding dramatically. Lets get a check the no rain in the forecast today either. No. And the way it looks, not for the rest of if he can february. Lote let me follow up on that story from the Drought Monitor and update you where rainfall totals sit for the season as a whole. We are not just talking about no rain in february, here. We are talking about the grand total. For this years rainfall season, which started back on october 1st. And in santa rosa, 61 of average so far. Thats the best number i will have. Because for San Francisco, at almost 9 inches of rain since i would started the season in october, thats only half of what we should have gotten so far. We did most of this in december and february has not added any of this. San jose is only gotten 37 of what we should have had. And in livermore, just under 3 inches. And thats only 26 of the amount of rainfall we should have had. The more important number is where the snow stands in the sierra. Lets look over there. And unfortunately, the story is not any better. We break it up into northern, central and southern sierra. But if you want an average for the sierra as a whole, we are sitting just at about half of what we should have there. And thats a measurement of how much water content is being stored in the snow. We dont measure the depth of the snow. We are concerned with how much water is being stored in it. And we have only got half of what we want. For this time of year. And theres no more coming at least for the next week and a half. Pretty start to the day out there. So lets change gears and talk about whats going to be a pretty nice sun out there for you if you are making plans to get outside. We dont have issues with visibility down in the south bay. But we did in the north bay. Santa rosa has visibility down to a quarter of a mile visibility and its windy out there in places. Just not where we have the fog. So, thats part of the reason. Its calm in santa rosa right now. And thats why the fog has been able to develop. Look at whats going down for the city and east bay. Theres a 22mileanhour wind in oakland. And its gusting to 2 2 miles an hour in the coast and east bay hills. And thats ushering in not only relatively cool air in the immediate bay. Its also bringing in the mid level clouds we saw from the camera on top of the sales force tower. It will give us a pretty sunrise. But it makes for another patchy cloudy day. It shouldnt be as gray as yesterday was. And as we watched the futurecast on this, the clouds will melt back so by the time we get into the afternoon. While there are still some left, if you had mostly gray day yesterday, and so many of us right in and around the immediate bay did. For saturday, we should see more blue sky today on sunday. And daytime highs will come in where they were. Which is pretty much close to average for this time year. Although if you are inland, it will be a bit warmer than average. The real warmup happens by early this week. Tuesday and wednesday. Daytime highs getting near 80 for inland spots and staying in the low 70s through the bay. A nice looking week. But we need rain and there is not any in this one. Devin back over to you. A uc davis vet is back from australia where she helped dozens of animalinjured duriu. S. Lets start the halfhour with a check of the weather a chilly start. Does that mean a kelly day. Not necessarily. Daytime highs in the afternoon will feel like yesterday did. But it does feel different out there right now. Especially in the south bay. Where we are like 10 degrees colder than we were 24 hours ago. At this point. I will show outnumbers in a second. But one other thing i want to show you, look at the live view from the camera on top of the sales force tower. Theres not as many clouds out there as there were yesterday. But there are enough that we have gotten a report or two of a sprinkle falling. The east bay hills. Now its not genuine rain or like its measurable or get us out of the streak no rain in february. But its nice to see the brief period of increased clouds cramming into the bay. Its been ainge to ring out a drop or two of drizzle. Thats what it looks like in the trival immidlevel clouds and looking from Treasure Island, its the same story. Look at the number for santa rosa. 36 degrees. Thats cold. And sant san jose at 47. Noticeably colder than yesterday. Look at difference from 24 hours ago to right now. Big blue bulls eye is on san jose. With that minus 9 on there. Thats where we are going step outside to the most different kind of feel that you remember if you were an early reiser out the door on saturday. As far as visibility goes. We dont have issues with fog in the south or east bay. But we do up north. Santa rosa visibility is a quarter mile. And a big part of that is because its so cold up there. We have gotten down into the mid30s. And its cold enough for fog to develop. Here are the highs that devin and i were talking about which will be fine. We will be in the low to mid 60s. Very much like yesterday. But a few less clouds in and around the bay today than yesterday. I will be back with more on the rest of the forecast coming up in a few minutes. Devin, back over to you. So if you look at the current temperatures, its 36 degrees in santa rosa. But thats actually the one place where its not windy. Or one of the places where its not windy. And that calm hair allowed temperatures trough to drop so much we have developed fog. You see how it says fog for the reporting station. And these are low clouds. Not the kind of clouds that bring us rain unfortunately. There is no rain in the seven day forecast. We need to go beyond that and we will look at the eight to 14 day probability outlook. So this is not a specific forecast. But it gives outidea of the confidence level above or below average for rainfall for this period. And it takes us all the way into the first week of march. The deeper the shade of brown, the higher the confidence we will be below average. The next selfdays no rain and the next eight days it looks like. Almost with certainty we wont see rain. Not a good storey. Daytime highs are a good story. Pretty much on average for most locations and good thing about thsarday felt like for you. And thats what sunday will feel like.
