Data that says there is ground water in the neighborhood. We have data that says we have it here, so were starting here and moving quickly. Reporter so as it stands now, you can see Mcclymonds High School closed february 20th through the 21st, and that could also extend into next week. We told you about how parents and students have a lot of questions, so the School District hopes to answer that at 6 00. Theyll have an open meeting at the taylor united memorial methodist church. We expect a lot of people to be there, and well certainly be there as well reporting live at 6 00. Typically we think of high schools as being in residential neighborhoods, that plating business you mentioned, certainly a commercial business that would be more industrial. What is that neighborhood like . Reporter we are surrounded in a residential and commercial area, in fact that plating business is just north of the school, so you might wonder if maybe that chemical traveled south into the ground water. So it could be impacting surrounding areas. Right now we dont know, but tonight theyll give us some information and alert people in the area where a lot of students live here around the school to be forewarned. If not the plating business, there are others that are suspect as well. Thank you juliette goodrich. We brought you the press Conference Live on cbsn bay area. You can watch 24 7 on kpix. Right here, this young lady, she went missing. Next to her is the person of interest that police are hoping someone will recognize and identify him. It gives me hope just to give us closure. Reporter 44 years. Not a day goes by without jerry roach thinking of his older sister sherry. Maybe she is still arrive, which im hoping for, but i know its doubtful. I think if she was alive she would have contacted me. Reporter jerry suspects foul play, but san mateo detectives simply dont know what happened to her. She was reported hissing in 1976, from a san mateo Halfway House that has since turned into a dental office. Jerry says they were very close. They grew up in santa rosa in a violent household, and that forced sherry to bounce around foster and group homes. One day the 17yearold girl just vanished. What individuals that might be considered serial killers or in custody at the time when she had disappeared, i even had to go through the jones town victim list. Reporter sherry did not like to take pictures, so it was more unusual to see a picture of her with a man a few years older. They heard rumors of a boyfriend, but none of the family members recognized the man. Investigators hope this person of interest can provide some leads, but they dont know who he is. Were not giving up. In fact were intensifying the search. Reporter detectives say if sherry is still alive, she would look similar to this age progression picture, and she would have just celebrated her 61st birthday. I would ask her, you know why, why she left or what happened and that i loved her and i missed her. Reporter jerry and his mother still live in santa rosa. Theyre hoping one day they can reunite with sherry. Again, if you recognize this man here, San Mateo Police would love to hear from you. Live in san mateo, im da lin, kpix 5. Kpix 5s len ramirez is joining us live with what it means for our water supply. Len . Reporter well, here in Anderson Reservoir which is the largest reservoir in the Santa Clara Valley system, the levels are kept abnormally know because of earthquake concerns, but even so, you can tell the water levels are shrinking in this sunny, dry month of february. Its normally one of our wettest months, but not this year. Its a Beautiful Day to be out fishing for steve, but also something of a guilty pleasure. I love the sunshine. Everything is great out here. When youre retired, you know, its nice. Reporter but what do you think about the lack of rain . The lack of rain, thats bad. Thats really bad. Reporter with hardly a drop of rain in the entire month of february, 59 percent of california is now experiencing abnormally dry conditions according to the drought monitor. Compare this map from december where areas of dryness are shown in yellow. This week it dramatically expands the areas to include most of the state, and on the left is the 2019 snow pack in the sierra. On the right is this year. Were still a ways off before talking about impacts on the water supply. Reporter the Santa Clara ValleyWater District says reservoirs are down to 59 percent of average for this time of year, but underground wells, where most of the valleys water is stored, are full because of previous plentiful rainy season. Once the rainy season is done well evaluate, but were in good shape as far as our water supply goes right now. Reporter residents are still cutting back usage 21 percent compared to 2013 levels, and long range plans include an extended reservoir off route 102. You know, its a dry year, but weve had dry years. When we start seeing, um, some of those repercussions is if you have consecutive dry years. Reporter now one area of a little concern is because this valley imports about 55 percent of the water it gets from the sierra snow pack, they are looking at that very closely to see whether or not supplies will be cut from the state water project. But they wont know that until a little bit later, until after the rainy season, you know, february is usually wet, march as well. Theyre waiting to see if its going to impact those imported water sources. Live in morgan hill, len ramirez, kpix 5. A live look from our exclusive sales force camera where we havent seen any rain like len just said. Brian hackney is here to tell us if any is on the way. Oh, maybe a drop or so, but its not going to make a dent. Theyll get rain in los angeles and san diego picking up a quarter to half inch of rain. And well be on the topside of the low. We might get a few sprinkles early on saturday. Its not going to make a difference to the snow pack, that so far does not look good. Its only about half average for this time in the season. And though it hasnt rained in february at all, in fact we havent had rain since january 28th, the big reservoirs, the ones we stick a straw in and take water out, those are not looking that bad. Oroville is well above average. So it just depends on how much the snow pack is melting this early in the season, but the big reservoirs outside the bay area dont look bad. We could use the rain. Well have prospects for more in the forecast in a few minutes. Thanks. Police are looking for suspects after 3 attempted carjackings in san francisco, and they were just a few minutes and a few blocks apart. The first attack happened at 9th and harrison about 2 30 this morning. An uber driver said he was waiting at a light when 3 people suddenly charged his car, but he was brave enough to fight them off. One was trying to get in the drivers seat with a gun pointing it at me, and i just kept hitting the barrel and not letting him, and he kept trying to open the door, he finally opened it and yanked me out, and i kept fighting him. Minutes later, about a half block away, police say the same suspects smashed the front window of this car while the driver was parked. Then a third similar incident happened minutes after at mission and dubois. So far in arrests. The rescue thats been seen around the world. A paraglider plucked from power lines in yuba county. As long as we all stick to the same format, we start off with fundamentals. Reporter dave is still reeling over the astonishing rescue of a man trapped in power lines. Dave is a licensed pilot and gliding instructor said he was there as the man took off and landed after several successful trips. He believes its Mother Nature thats a big reason why the glider went down, forcing the man to make a split second decision. One of the lines caught the edge of a branch, a single long branch caught it. Reporter this crash is the latest incident in a matter of days. Last friday a rockland man was killed following a crash in truckee, and on monday a pilot was hurt after crashing in el dorado county. Weve never seen anything like this. Reporter Rebecca Wright watched anxiously for hours as First Responders worked carefully to get the man down. What she saw firsthand has a lot of people still talking about the shocking rescue. Were all very happy to here hes okay. Were just all morning, my staff, we were talking about just how close it was. Alexander hamilton has been on quite a run in san francisco, but theres another one coming, and this one is faster. There he goes. Pitch taken, and no throw by molina. Hamilton got a great jump. I dont even try to distract pitchers, just me getting on base does it. Reporter Billy Hamilton has 299 career steals. His success rate is 81. 3. He puts everyone at edge when hes on base. I definitely take pride in stealing bases. Thats whats gotten me to this point in my career. Reporter the key for hamilton is getting on base. He doesnt walk a lot, has a career average of just 242. We know that ground balls are good for Billy Hamilton, but we know line drives are better for him. Every time i see you hit one in the air, you owe me 20 push ups. I do remember that.
