city seeing light rain, but if you come out for the wider view, that is all there is for now. we'll see a few more showers over the next few hours because we're not entirely done with the rain until we get past 10:00 this morning. there the streets emily was talking about. that is coming off the golden gate bridge. that is what it looks much rain we have gotten while you were sleeping, most was in the north bay, .6 for the bay. half-inch for santa rosa. san jose picked up a tenth of an inch of rain. for the rest of today, i'll show you what happens in the complete forecast. you'll see more blue sky than you think. we will be back in a couple minutes. other first case has now been conferred. the orange county healthcare agency announced yesterday that a travel ler from wuhan china tested positive. that was from the centers for disease control and prevention. the patient is in isolation at a hospital and in good condition. the people with close contact with that patit are being monitored. >> there are 56 people worldwide and 2,000 cases have been reported. the orange county case is the third here in the u.s. most of e infections have been in mainland china but new cases are popping up. australia and malaysia are reporting the first cases and japan reporting a third. france confirmed three cases on friday. >> the u.s. government is arranging to evacuate american iplomats and private ticionns zees day and travel here to the san francisco airport. meanwhile, the chinese central government announced it will send more than 1200 healthcare workers to wuhan. that is in an unprecedented effort to contain the spread of the virus. most of those patients will be treated at two hospitals built quickly in wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak. they are in the process of shutting down all icblpu outbre the city of wuhan was experiencing a shortage of doctors and hospital spa anisd w,notrying to handle the outbreak during the festive new year holiday. >> neighbors say they shouldn't have to take care of an abandoned homeless encampment. the cleanup with cost them $20,000. kpix 5's katie nielsen has the story. >> reporter: it assessed each homeowner a cleanup fee of $300. some homeowners say they shouldn't be the ones footing the bill. >> we didn't even know it was part of our hoa. >> reporter: she has lived in the community for 16 years and now she says she is stuck with a bill to clean up what is left of a homeless encampment. >> no one knew it was their responsibility. they probably assumed it was county's responsibility. >> reporter: it was first reported in october of 2017 but no one knew if the land belonged to the county or fence that would mark where the property line ended so we were kind of hoping that it was someone else's responsibility. >> reporter: ed walsh owns the company that oversees the hoa. they were told it was on their property in august of 2019 almost two years after the encampment first appeared. the hoa is responsible for the $20,000 cleanup. >> unfortunately, this one happened to be on the association's property. >> reporter: but homeowners say the delay of property lines caused more waste to pile up making it more expensive so the county or property management company should pay the bill. >> reporter: they should have known it was our property and they should have taken care of county to get involved in cleaning up your front yard. in a sense, this is ya of the association. >> reporter: the cleanup is expected to be done by the middle of february and alameda county deputies are going to go through the area once a weak to make sure another encampments doesn't pop up in the same area. katie nielsen, kpix 5. san jose police arrested a man in connection with a homicide after he requested a welfare check on a woman who was later found stabbed to death on the city's east side. the 38-year-old peter rodriguez was taken into custody last night hours after the officers found the body. he called them claiming he hadn't spoken to her in several hours. she was found stabbed to death inside a home near the high school. her name hasn't been released yet, but one neighbor told kpix 5 that he is shocked to hear what happened. >> it is a surprise that this happened now. like i said, you never know. >> police are still investigating the victim's relationship with the suspect. berkeley police now have a suspending in a deadly hit-and- run there. they are looking for a 29-year- old alexander mcgee seen here. they believe he is armed and dangerous. police believe mcgee was inside a car assaulting a woman last monday when an officer approached his vehicle. they say he took off. >> in the process of flowing from his crimes, a woman died. a woman was struck and killed, so we would like to bring him to justice as soon as possible. >> mcgee is now wanted on numerous charges including vehicular manslaughter. anyone who sees him though should call 911. >> thousand us took to the streets of san francisco yesterday for the 16th annual walk for life. the march down market street started at civic center and ended at the embarcadero center. many of the crowd were young and carried but more than 500 u.s. service members are still in that country. all right. let's get caught up on the rain moving through the bay area this morning. the good news is if you want to get outside without having to be driving with the windshield wipers on, we have seen most of the rain clear. there is a little more rain coming for the morning, sodone. you can see that well organized band of rain across the area in the overnight hours. in fact, following that down into the south bay, it is now cleared. pretty much the major population center's down here. you have to get down south of the gilroy and before you find any rain hitting the roadways. still some light rain developing behind it though as we look at the peninsula. just a few bands of light showers moving out over the waters of the bay. we have been watching light rain here falling over san mateo and redwood city but that is really light stuff. now put it in the futurecast. it picks up on that light rain and keeps a few spotty showers going through the remainder of the morning. here we are at 6:30 light rain exiting the bay. it will work its way down the peninsula into the south bay, even by 9:00 still looking at a few spotty showers over the south bay. watch what happens into the late morning and early afternoon. the clouds have even cleared out now. that says 2:00 p.m. not only is it no longer raining but we have blue skies so a pretty nice second half of sunday. you'll be able to get outside. the ground might be a bit damp but you won't need the umbrella after 10:00, 11:00 this morning. then we only pick up another .05 inches of rain. daytime highs, we'll start out in the south bay. numbers in the low to mid 60s. san mateo going to 60. 62 in concord. livermore at 61. 61 in navado. 62 for the daytime high in both saa rosa and windsor. the seven-day forecast, looking forward from here there is just a few clouds and that is it. in fact, we have got a warmup coming our way by the end of next week get a check of the weather with daron. >> we have 95% of the rain out of the way, not to say we're done. there are still showers out there. we'll see a light band of rain in the south bay, but you can see what i mean when i say 95% is done. that well organized band of yellow and oranges has exited the bay area and moving in don't central valley but there are strag ners and a few showers in the south bay. one is showing up over the san mateo bridge. that is moving from west east to union city and fremont. a few more showers it hills down there of the peninsula. on the wider view there is not a whole lot else going on yet. i'll sole you why there is reason to believe there will be more likelight showers until 11:00 this morning. that is what it looks like right now. you can tell how wet the roadway is coxk off the bridge. you can see it at sfo. we picked up over half-inch of rain through parts of the north bay. into the central and south bay, only one tenth of an inch of rain. oakland picked up about .2 inches of rain. daytime highs climbing back into the mid 60s with plenty of blue sky. i nope we're talking about rain now, but most of sunday it does not rain and you're going to be able to really get out in the sunshine. i'll show you more on that in a bit. guys, back over to you. other first case of corona virus has been confirmed. they announced yesterday a traveler from wuhan, china tested positive for the virus. the patient is in isolation and in good condition but those in close contact with the patient are being monitored. the u.s. is evacuating american citizens from wuhan, the center of the outbreak. >> an army of excavators now trying to build not one, but two hospitals to treat over 2,000 people infected with the coronavirus. as patients continue to pack into hospitals, medical supplies are running low. masks, gloves and surgical gowns. the city ahe ways, train station and airport now sit empty after officials restricted access out of the sprawling city of 11 million people. more than a dozen surrounding cities and towns an estimated 50 million people are now on some kind of total or partial transport lockdown. fears of infection have spread from wuhan this last week as our news crew left before the lockdown. nearly every dough parting passenger at the airport was wearing a mask. across the country including beijing where we about 60 of them have a very specific invitation and tina is one of them. >> i'm going to be methey will kenwood. i think it is 3 to 6 month. i have filled out up on monday. >> the county has posted notices of legal rights and the opportunities for shelter and or treatment. they have been out hire everyday. i think that i have gotten more help being here on the trail than i was in any of the shelters. >> but it remains to be seen how many accept those options and how many simply decide to stay or maybe move to a new spot. neighbors of course are long past the point of frustration. >> there is an issue here, very big. >> off camera to day, many said the encampment has been more problematic and campers have been more confrontational as the deadline approaches. no one knows for sure how the next week will unfold. >> there are a group of people trying to set up a camp like this. >> i am not sure where. >> i spoke with a man in charge of making this emergency shell stir work. he was driving back from lodi with the bus they are going to use to shuttle everyone over here from the trail, so the effort to make that happen kind of going on around the clock and all over the place not getting anything at this point but in the south bay we can still see a few spotty isolated showers that will come up between now and 10:00. around 1:00 p.m. it is blue sky across the entire bay area. i showed you the totals earlier. we only got a tenth of an inch of rain here. in the north bay, we picked up a half-inch of rain over the last 24 hours. remember that today will be real pretty by the afternoon. let's look at daytime highs with all that blue sky. back into the low to mid 60s for much of the day. there is 60 in san mateo. 63 there. concord going to 62. livermore will top out at 61 today. there is santa rosa going to 61. as far as the way it feels out there now, we're all in the mid- 50s now. san jose has 56. concord with 56 with damp roadways out there. it does mean snow in the sierra. we will pick up another half- inch at donner pass. that is what it looks like right now on i-80 at kingvale. right at the 6,000-foot level. you can see chains are required up there. if we look ahead, it will be sunny sunday afternoon and a a sunny monday. then on tuesday, watch this next week's storm. that will graze the bay area for the north. don't have rain in the forecast for tuesday, but the clouds are going to increase and we could perhaps pick up an isolated sprinkles in the far but not enough. the clouds increasing on tuesday and then from there, we dry back out and
