County taken steps to clear a homeless encampment. The board of supervisors voted to purchase two homes to provide shelter for dozens of people. We spoke with a santa rosa woman who said that one of these homes was hers. Reporter the home behind me is one of two that the Sonoma County board of supervisors voted to purchase today. The woman i just spoke to a few hours ago said she got a notice in october that she had to go. Rebecca lived in a back unit on this property on sonoma street and santa rosa with her daughter for 10 1 2 years. She received a notice to move in october. The timing seemed odd. We were myself and the other tenant were given 60 days notice during the kincaid fire. That in and of itself is really stressful. Reporter the county voted t homeless. I understand that there were tenants on the other property that the county did purchase and i just personally do not understand why they would displace people to house people. Like i said that seems like robbing from peter to pay paul. Reporter with a homeless crisis of nearly 3000 on the streets in the county rebecca wants to make this point clear. I want homes over everybodys heads so thats not my beef at all. Reporter she and her daughter moved to another place in the same School District around thanksgiving. She told her story to the county board of supervisors today. Reporter my goal is that hopefully in the future when those kinds of things happen and we are purchasing and trying to make amends a really critical situation that it is just overly clear and straightforward. The public is informed and i do not want to see anybody moved out of their home again in this kind of situation. Reporter after the board of supervisors meeting today one of the supervisors has agreed to sit down with rebecca to discuss her case and see if there are any further steps that need to be taken. The county also discussing proposed sites for a homeless shelter. The last couple of hours we have learned that the board has agreed to build a homeless shelter. We will have more on that tonight at 11 00. A chainlink fence and circles a home where a group of homeless moms were evicted early this morning. We have a look outside the property where a small group has gathered again tonight. The house is now boarded up after the Sheriffs Department arrested two of the moms and two other supporters this morning. Juliette goodrich was at the jail when they got out. Reporter the four people arrested, two mom sent two men were brought here to the jail early this morning. They were released early this afternoon and they say while they are ee nis moveme om 5 15 this morning dressed in riot gear with automatic weapons Sheriff Deputies carried out the eviction order arrested two of the mom sent two other supporters. This is the kind of thing your grandkids will be ashamed of. Reporter minutes later more supporters were on the street. We have to keep fighting because we see what we are up against reporter reporter the Sheriffs Department said they made it nearly impossible to open the doors. The doors were barricaded. They had fortified the doors and make an entry into the residence was very difficult. Reporter they were booked into santa rita jail and released on bail this afternoon.
