You can tell a lot about this storm and what has in store for us. A detailed satellite image, i will switch from the visible, which is what you and i would see if we were in space, and put into the infrared and pull out the bigger cloud tops and now you see a pattern. I must operate at 5 00. See you there is a band of really organize higher clouds, the brighter the color the higher the clouds. You have this leading edge tomorrow afternoon and evening. That is where the cold front is and where some of the most impressive rain from the storm is going to come from. But, that is not the only aspect of the storm. You have to look behind that leading cloud right there to the center of the storm. That is actually what is driving the whole thing. That is going to be saturday. Back in there for saturday, itll be a scattered pop of showers. You can even see how scattered that is. It is pop of hit and miss showers. Friday is going to be the leading edge. Lets put this into the futurecast and bring this forward. This gets us ahead to friday at 1 00. I will switch from the wide view. We will put this into the High Resolution forecast model and i can really see the detail get pulled out. Heres why we are timing this for tomorrow afternoon returned to see the good, organized showers. Notice the line, the real, organize line that will sweep across the bay area. Lets start it, play it through. We have gone to 6 00. Its coming right through the middle of the bay area just in time for the commute. This will be good rain, moderate to heavy rain. There can even be isolated thunderstorms mixed in with this leading edge as the cold front swings through but that is prime time. The timing has changed a little bit, its a little bit later than it was yesterday but we should get to tie down to exact details with this. Come away with a general idea that the second half of the day is going to be fairly rainy across the bay area. The time weve got to midnight, we finally seen that line sweep across the entire bay area. San jose, santa clara county. At this point were getting in around eight or 9 00. Could shift a little on the time. Now here saturday, more of this pop up showers come through. Its not as oppressive but appears and we get another front that comes through there. Which is entirely possible but the way these things normally go on saturday theres not quite as much organization to them and is just, isolated showers anywhere at any time. And they can give you some downpours. If we look at fridays rainfall totals of this is the first main sweep. Those are pretty good numbers, they are manageable numbers. This will not be a washout, just a momentary heavy rain and then for saturday so more rain on top of this. Yes, it will get windy. As the line comes through, the cold front will be where you find the strongest wind. Friday, second half of the day is where we find the strongest wind. These are gusts up to 30 or 40. At the coast, as always a lot stronger. We could see 5060 miles per hour. Where we live and where we are all driving around, probably looking at 3040 mile an hour. Its going to be very much like the storm we had a week and half ago. Pretty much average, same thing with daytime highs. The temperatures are not the story, it is timing out the rain, wind and i havent even talked about the snow in the sierra. I will do that coming up in my next visit on the other side of 5 30.
