The system is expected to bring more snow to the new england area this morning. Yesterday more than a foot of snow fell in some places making travel nearly impossible. More than two feet of snow dropped in northern new york. Hundreds of flights were grounded in the region. And tens of thousands of people are without power. Laura podesta is in new york. The storms aftermath still being felt. Reporter yes, thankfully not here in new york city, but in massachusetts snow is still coming down right now. Boston canceled school for today. In some places in that state, the snow is predicted to accumulate at the rate of two inches per hour. Throughout the northeast, children enjoyed a Winter Wonderland yesterday. And while the adults tried to share in their experience the kids are having a great time, and i love this time of year. Reporter they also had to contend with the fallout from mother nature. Thousands were without power in northern new jersey. Cleaning up the driveway, and ive got my cell phone charging in my car since thats the only electricity that i have available right now. Reporter in upstate new york, a bus carrying about 30 people collided with a tractortrailer on interstate 90. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said there were no lifethreatening injuries. State troopers have responded to more than 700 stormrelated crashes. New yorkers, were tough, weve seen it all, we can handle it all. There are new details in the investigation into a deadly plane crash that killed nine members of an idaho family. Federal investigators say the pilot was cleared to fly despite Poor Visibility due to a snowstorm on saturday. The plane was headed to idaho falls when it crashed shortly after takeoff from chamberlain, south dakota. A fire chief who responded was shocked the pilot was allowed to fly. Conditions at the time, roads were slippery, snowing heavily, very bad conditions. The family had been returning home after an annual hunting trip. Three people survived the crash, and a family friend tells cbs news that one of the survivors is out of the hospital. And two others are in stable condition. Last night in washington lawmakers got their first look at the impeachment report by the House Intelligence Committee. In an interview, the chairman of the committee, democrat adam schiff, says the report will be released publicly today. The Trump Administration wants permission from the Supreme Court to restart the federal death penalty. Attorney general william barr announced over the summer that federal inmate executions would resume for the first time in 16 years. The request was blocked by a district court. Now reporter supporters of gun control rallied on the steps of the Supreme Court as justices weighed arguments in a guns rights case for the first time in nearly ten years. We are fighting because Trayvon Martin cant. We are fighting because tate jackson cant. We are fighting because tamir rice cant. Reporter the case concerns a new york city regulations that blocked licensed individuals from taking handguns out of the city limits. Three gun owners who challenged the city rule and the nras new york affiliate argued the restriction violated the right to bear arms. This is part and parcel the kind of regulations that hav no basis in text, history, or tradition, and should not be upheld. Reporter its unclear whether the Supreme Court justices will reach a judgment in this case because new york city has already dropped the restrictions. The case is moot. It is a case that should not have gone forward to this point. Reporter city officials urged the court to throw out the case before mondays arguments, concerned the high courts conservative majority could use it to broaden gun rights. The Second Amendment is not supreme. Its one of the many rights and privileges laid out in the constitution.
