We saw several minor accidents, reading quite a backup. The storm has also caused minor Power Outages in the area, as we wind wind whipping through the high elevations. There are signs posted on highway 17 asking drivers to slow down and that is the best way to go with these conditions. It is not just the rain, some areas of Summit County have been dry all day, a power has been out all day and they wont have power on until 11 00. Devon shows what started it all. Most of the problems have been caused by rain and wind, and several Power Outages that were sparked. Strong gusts of wind toppled the scaffolding, causing sections of this wall to fall like dominoes below. The construction accident knocked out power of several nearby neighborhoods. He was using a camping stove to cook with his family when he had been without power for five hours. Suddenly we were putting up decorations and the power went out, the neighborhood was out. They worked quickly to restore power, knowing well that the wind and the rain were on the way. They look to return restore power over night or early this morning but because of the complexity and danger of this job, it is going to take a little bit longer. We are following developing news tonight, a Deadly Police shooting in a residential neighborhood happened on oasis drive at the south end of town. Investigators are about to give an update on what is happening. Lets give a lesson. There were reports of an elderly couple that lived in the home. They called to report that their son was erratic and possibly under the influence of drugs and alcohol. They said he was armed with a knife and a gun. They said he had gone out front and was yelling out in front of the house. Neighbors called and saw the 16 yearold male with a firearm in the front yard front yard yelling. Officers arrived on scene and attempted to talk to the mail. He proceeded back into his house. As the officers were trying to go inside the house, the elderly resident, the 90yearold male walked out of the house with significant injuries. Officers went inside and located the sun straddling his mother while holding the knife. Two of the officers use service weapons. Medical aid was immediately rendered by the officers to both the residents and their son. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The mother and father were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Questions . Had you had previous contact with him . Yes we had. For violent or nonviolent offenses . What was the contact like in the past . We are still looking into it. We have had contact before. We are still looking into it. What about the officers who use their weapons . No injuries. As with any officer involved shooting, we have protocol where we collaborate with the District Attorneys Office and investigators come to corroborate with detectives to investigate the incident give that was in progress.
