Thrive. Time now for a look at the weather, and darren peck is in the weather center. Temperatures will dip tomorrow. Yes, we made 80 today inland. Crazy. Nice. And i think thats probably going to be the last seon. Theres some pretty dramatic changes coming our way. Not just the drop in temperatures tomorrow, and were only going to average. Its not going to be cold. It will be breezy and average, and that will feel different. But i want to start off looking past that. I want to start off with the headline in this forecast which is another red flag warning. Read the time frame up there. It says wednesday morning at 4 00 a. M. Until thursday morning at 7 00 a. M. Basically throughout the day on wednesday until early thursday morning weve got some more offshore winds coming back. And the middle line there tells you the important thing. Right here. It says peak gusts up to 60 Miles Per Hour. So thats a strong offshore wind event. Weve had worse in october, but still a 60 Miles Per Hour gust on very dry hills is still a concern. And if we look at how it plays out on the big picture, ill play us ahead to the time frame we were talking about. Tuesday night at 10 00. The bright reds have already started to show up out here, and ill let that play from tuesday night into wednesday morning. 11 00 a. M. Some of the strongest winds here. And by wednesday afternoon and evening, the winds will start to calm down. But i want to come back to when the worst of it will likely be. Those overnight hours. Tuesday night into wednesday morning. Wednesday at 1 00 a. M. , this should look like a familiar pattern. Once again the concern is in the north way, and once again the concern is in the mountains of the north bay. The brighter the color, the stronger the wind. And theres 60 Miles Per Hour overnight on tuesday into wednesday morning. Meanwhile down where we live in the north bay, its breezy, but not terribly windy. Another one of those scenarios where even if its not so bad at your house, its gusting to Dangerous Levels up in the mountains. 60 Miles Per Hour gusts. So heres how we do this. We had an 80degree day inland in the bay. But if you take a wider view, you see something impressive looking. Thats a well organized storm coming into the pacific northwest. Its a little too far north to have a direct impact on us. It really shows up on water vapor. But watch what happens when we take that circulation on the futurecast and track where the center of the low goes. The problem with the storm is it goes inland and dives south. You see what happened there . We didnt get a storm that came directly at us from the west. Were about to get grazed by one. Thats going to slide down to our east and position itself there by the time we get into wednesday. Look what the winds are doing in response to that. We come in for a closer look at that. Those are the offshore winds. Placement with those low Social Security everything. This is how we got the last big wind events in october. Were doing it again. These storm s that slide in on the inside, and you can see them pull the north winds down behind them getting us to the time frame we were just looking at. There are other aspects to the change in the weather. One would be, if we watch that storm with all the lovely rain, we miss out on almost all of it. We could get a little snow in the sierra. It actually bris snow to the mountains over here. Light, but enough to impact travel. And were not getting anything. Thats another thing an inside slider can do. Then it positions down to the south. And if we look at where the rain accumulates, they get it up there, get it down here, certainly to the east and we get nothing. So its like a loselose situation. We dont get the rain we need and instead get the strong offshore winds. We cant rule out the possibility for some light rain getting us to tuesday night. This is tomorrow when the system passes by. Tomorrow would be the day if we get any rain we get it. That pretty much passes by. Its the next day, wednesday, when we feel the winds from that system after it sets up shop down to the south and continues to pull all the air from the north to wrap it back into itself. The other things, remember how we saw the light snow in the sierra . If you have travel plans up in the mountains midweek, tuesday afternoon through wednesday night, going to be tough travel up there. Above 7500 feet. So doubtful we get enough snow on i80. Watch that if you have travel plans in the mountains. As far as temperatures tomorrow, we were in the upper 70s in most locations today. Mid60s tomorrow. We made it to around 80 for some of those spots. Only 68 in concord tomorrow. Its a dramatic drop, but these numbers are normal where we should have been. Thats what this system does for us. It knocks us back into reality temperaturewise. It would just be nice if it returned the favor and gave us some rain but its not. We gets dry offshore winds tuesday night through wednesday morning. Well talk a lot about that over the next few days. Now back to you. All right, thank you. Coming up new at 6 00, to curb racial bias, Oakland Police are pulling fewer people over. And a Mountain Lion problem on the peninsula. The fight between protecting cattle and wildlife diversity. And a Bay Area Company making meet out of thin air.
