Investigators in Southern California are trying to determine a motive in a School Shooting that killed two students. Last Night Community members with students in Santa Clarita held a vigil. Three other students were wounded in yesterdays shootig. The suspected gunman, also a student, is hospitalized in grave condition after shooting himself. Marc liverman is here in new york. Marc, what more do we know about the accused gunman in this case . Reporter well, police say the suspected shooter pulled a gun from his backpack and just started shooting at innocent victims. Whats still unclear, though, is why. Weve got an active shooter at Saugus High School. We need all units to respond. Morning. Ter the chart we just ran for our lives. I actually thought i was going to die. Reporter a student is accused of opening fire at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, a city northwest of los angeles. You dont know where the guy is out there, and you dont want to risk anything happening. Reporter thousands of students evacuated, marching out of the school. Many were eventually reunited with worried and emotional parents. For like two hours, it was terrifying not knowing, you know, what was happening, not hearing from your child. Its most terrifying thing in the whole world. Reporter Officials Say three offduty officers who had dropped off relatives at the school responded within seconds of the shooting. Offduty First Responders were there and did not hesitate, turned around and went right into the source of the gunfire to attempt to neutralize it. Reporter the suspect was identified as 16yearold nathan berhow. Detectives have reviewed the video which clearly show the subject in the quad withdraw a e repor pe used the final bullet to shoot. He was rusd to the h where doctors say hes in grave condition. Police have searched the Santa Clarita home of the alleged shooter. Theyre also searching his social media hoping to learn why he opened fire. The two students that were killed were a 16yearold girl and a 14yearold boy. The other students that were shot, two girls ages 14 and 15, they remain hospitalized but are listed in good condition. A 14yearold boy was treated and released from the hospital. No motive is known. Brown was seen outside his grandmothers house in roanoke. Police found in rv belonging to brown nearby. They rammed it repeatedly with an armored vehicle, but brown was not inside. Fearing he might still be in the area, authorities closed all 28 roanoke Public Schools and urged residents to be vigilant. Some businesses also closed. Hes certainly trained with weapons. Bevin had called for the recanvass after losing last weeks election by about 5,000 votes to democratic attorney general andy beshear. Bevin cited voting irregularities without offering evidence. He acknowledged the recanvass would not change the outcome. I truly wish the attorney general well as the next governor of the state as he assumes these responsibilities.
