We already have a good idea of what these witnesses are expected to say since bot taylor and kent have already testified behind closed doors as part of the 15 witnesses and more than 100 hours worth of depositions that have led up to todays first public hearing. President trump returned to the white house tuesday night on the eve of the first public hearing in Congress Impeachment inquiry. Democrats in washington would rather pursue outrageous hoax and delusional witchhunts which are going nowhere. Dont worry about it. Reporter democrats are investigating whether the Trump Administration pressured ukraine to open politically motivated investigations using military aid as leverage. The nationally televised hearing will be conducted by the house intelligence committee. I think youre going to see the cream of our diplomatic corps speak truth to power. Reporter William Taylor is one of two state Department Officials testifying today. Taylor is expected to tell lawmakers set conditions for nearly half a billion dollars in aid that had been temporarily withheld. Taylor will be joined by george kent, Deputy Assistant secretary of state. In a deposition last month, kent said he learned the white house would not release the funds until ukraines president publicly announced investigations linked to President Trumps political rivals including joe biden. While democrats say the witnesses will show the president tried to coerce a foreign nation, republicans say the impeachment inquiry has been unfair from the start, and today will try to take aim at the process and substance of the investigation. The mother of a missing florida girl has been arrested in connection with the girls disappearance. Brianna williams has been charged with felony child neglect and making false statements to police. Yesterday investigators found remains they believe to be 5yearold Taylor Rose Williams in alabama. Dna testing still needs to be performed to identify those remains, though. The little girl disappeared from her jacksonville home last week. Her mother was hospitalized after an apparent overdose. And former president jimmy carter is recovering from surgery to relieve pressure on his brain caused by bleeding from recent falls. Mr. Carter, who is 95, underwent surgery yesterday at an atlanta hospital. A spokeswoman says there were no complications. The former president will remain in the hospital for observation. A source close to mr. Carter expects him to be back Teaching Sunday School soon. A michigan teenager is recovering after a rare doublelung transplant. Reporter when this 16yearold boy was transferred to Henry Ford Hospital in detroit last month, he was very near death. He had been vaping, his parents said. He was nonresponsive, his lungs were horribly inflamed and filling with dead tissue. He had been to two hospitals before coming to henry ford. The boy was placed on a machine which breathed for him, but still he deteriorated. The only thing that could save him was a doublelung transplant. This is an evil that i havent faced before. It was worse than my expectation. Reporter the team was led october 15th in the sixhour operation, believed to be the first doublelung transplant for a victim of vaping.
