Gianna is tracking the impacts on roads but lets gibing begin with mary lee and talk about the winds when they will finally ease up. We are starting to watch the wind ease right now. But we have seen some strong wind gusts especially last night. So our strongest peak wind gusts at pine flat road close to the contained fire whlena 58 mount diablo 35 for sunol. North northeastern winds dry offshore wind flow. 27 mile per hour winds sustained. Gusts up to 37 Miles Per Hour and very low relative humidity values down to the a Single Digits at 9 . And currently looking at 49 for temperature out there. Even though the winds will continue to calm down, we are looking at still incredibly dry air. So thats why a red flag warning will be in effect until 4 p. M. For the north bay e. Bay and coast and the santa cruz mountain. An extreme fire danger continues as we watch the conditions out there near the kincade fire. Weather headlines, gusty morning up in the mountains. Again the winds will ease. A chilly start to the day with patchy frost. And temps in the 30s, 40s and in the 50s. Hazy sunshine today. Thankfully we are looking at quieter calmer weather ahead over the nextseveral ideas. And by the end of next week, we could possibly see some rain in the forecast. Thats a while away but theres the chance. For the latest on the kincade fire, lets go live to jackie ward in Sonoma County. You are dealing with gusty conditions this morning. Reporter yeah, thats one way to put it. We are feeling every bit of the wind this morning. We are northeast of jim town in Sonoma County. Lets show you what we see. We are pretty far away from that glow. But we are going to try to show you as best we can what we were able to find this morning. Its part of the kincade fire. We drove up pine flat road about 25 minutes to get to this point. We are near robert lewis state park. Theres socalled mop up work happening throughout the burn area. Around the kincade fire. And they are using watter to cool anything smoldering. Hand crews are out cug reneand t the red flag winds to take up the embers and blowing them up to a half mile ahead of firefighters. At nighttime, you can see the glow so they put everything out reporter right now the goal is to keep the burning embers inside the line and protect homes and buildings standing. But the good news is the fire is pretty far away from any part of downtown windsor or healdsburg. We had to drive up quite a bit up the road to get to this point. Its nice to see the flames so fathers way. Live in county, jackie ward. Theres road closures due to the fire. 128 is still completely shut down in both directions. In Summit County and napa county and the good news is all lanes are opened on 101. Several on and off ramps trying to access 101 remain shut down. Smart train free service thnove but still a limited schedule is in effect so check on that before you head out. The area of all the closures that are happening right now, 101 is opened though we are not seeing major delays. So traveling southbound into San Francisco, through the area, you should be okay. No delays petaluma into novato. Cancellation and golden gatetransit has changes and free service from today until november 6 but limited service available. Bart has not been affected by the power outage. Everything is on time. A few trains running. I want to let you know about the trouble spot we are getting reports of a brush fire off to the shoulder on 880 right at lieu ellen lows close to the accident involving a vehicle and a beg rig. Just headed out to the scene through there so we are seeing some delays therso the traffic out, treat it as a 4way stop. Power is still out for some north bay pg e customers this morning in between safety shut off wind have died down apartment next step is restoration. 300,000 people are affected by the shutoffs in the bay area this morning and anne makovec has more on the pg e plans. Anne. Reporter with we have the last shut off on the one that started last night. But here in so momma county. Only 12 of the people that had the power shut off the last time have it back on now. So for some of the people, the shut off is bleeding into what is going to be a week without power. Here is the latest numbers of those affected by the latest marin, napa counties in the bay area are affected. The vast majority, almost 200,000 homes and businesses without power r. In marin connedy followed by sonoma at almost 87,000. A total of half a million buildings are without power in portions of 22 counties around northern california. And pg e has not said how long it could last. I have an electric sump pump. We put portapotties at the end because we couldnt flush the toilets or use them at all. Reporter now the conditions have improved wind wide reducing the number of people whose power will be shut off this time around by 30,000 people. So, those in places like alameda and santa clara counties have been sparred by latest shut down. And a little bit of good news yesterday, pg e cameeded the go advice saying they will provide refund to people affected by the last shut down. East bay has been dealing with a lot of uncertainty during the power shutoffs. Schools, businesses and homeowners finding ways to adapt. Teachers brought their lanterns to help in case of darkened halls. Shoppers tried to stock up on groceries and many people find it is possible to survive without many of the modern conveniences that we take for granted these days. Some feel its important to maintain a regular schedule. Ive been to a few stores and everything is closed. So what does it mean if they would keep it open . Because they know the need. To bring them in and have the school day happen like every other day because these r normal. A question many people have across the bay area this morning is the food safety to eae the poweturns back on. The usda has been monitoring the Power Outages and people may be trying to salvage questionable food. Agency said meat, poultry, seafood, eggs or leftovers kept above 40 degrees for more than two hours should be thrown out. That includes deli meats and doesnt matter if it is cooked and also raw bacon. It is better to err on the side of caution. You can always go out and replace meat products. Things that can can hospitalize is never worth that. Another thing to keep in mind is a fully loaded wid mpfo 48 hours for s, thilldthat degree temperature for 4 hours. They have done more than 2 million gallons of water on the fire and a air tanker fleet dropped over a million gallons. Effort is so strong and continues to be that way. Fire crews are working this morning to keep the getty fire under control. Fierce winds started the blaze to begin with. Turk a simple stroke of bad luck into an inferno. High winds just off the 405 near the getty museum in Southern California blew a tree branch into power lines. The sparks caused the fire that has burned close to 700 acres. Check out the dash cam video showing another power line explosion off the freeway. Some people evacuated from the getty fire have been let back into the homes. But the fear is still. It was simply put, on act of god. This was something that we had more than two dozen feet clearance but an act of god. Fear, you know, it is what it is. You just have to remain calm and just get out when they tell to us get out. National Weather Service issued the first ever extreme red flag warning for areas of Southern California near the fire. And Southern California edison reveals the equipment likely sparked the fire last year. That plays burned a swath of los angeles last november killing 3 people and destroying more than 1600 homes and buildings. From fire to cold weather. With temperatures dipping san jose is opening more warming shelters for the homeless. The two overnight shelters are at the roosevelt and bascum community center. They require a referral and they can only accommodate 60 people out of the estimated 5,000 on the streets. We know the need is great. Right now, looking at winds gusting up in the north bay mountains at about 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour. And we will continue to watch the winds ease thankfully so. Right now, looking at 14mile perhour at sfo. San francisco 15. You can see the stronger wind speeds in the Higher Elevations up in the mountains so, currently looking at very dry air. Its a 17 relative humidity values in livemore. 13 in oakland and 16 in hayward and 10 in fairfield. And checking Current Conditions near the kincade fire, relative humidity values down to 9 down to the Single Digits. Heres a live look, and right now, we are looking at the cold temps know. So that low pressure system that was over the great basin is going to continue to move away and this ridge of High Pressure will be building in. So we are going to see the winds that will continue to calm down and relax as we go through the day. Here we are at 8 a. M. , still up in the north bay mountains, gusty conditions. But watch as the winds ease into calm conditions by the afternoon. So, specifickiade fire and here we are at 9 a. M. , so still, gusty offshore winds up in the north bay mountains, but, again, the winds easingby but still, incredibly dry air throughout the day today. Hazy sun. We are looking at seasonal daytime highs. 71 in concord. 73 san jose. 70 in oakland. Upper 60s for San Francisco. Heres extend forecast and what to expect. Again, the winds will ease, as we head through the day, hazy sun, seasonal temps and then as we go through the rest of the workweek, into the weekend temps will be on the right a little bit with the sun but quieter, calmer weather thankfully so even for halloween. That vehicle caught fire and theres lot of activity on the connector ramp. Its blocked right now until further notice. They are waiting on tow crews to get the big rig out of way. It was careying a 30,000 pounds. So its going to be a task to clear that out of lanes. In the meantime, its possible that the car fire may have sparked a small grass fire off the shoulder. We are getting wordactivity on the offramp from 80. Looks like traffic is okay on the mainlines of 880. Not seeing slowing at all in both directions. But, just heads up we will keep a close eye on that incident. Nnector to 808 where we are seeing that trouble spot. Taking 808 to the san mateo bridge, no wind s. Traffic is quiet over towards the 101. We are hearing reports of a trouble spot off right shoulder westbound 580 at grant line. Activity for fire crews that will see some delays as you approach the scene out of tracy. Busy anyway. Traffic is fill in out of the tracy area into the altamont pass. The rest of the bay area freeways are major freeways are doing okay. No delays on the east shore freeway. Highway 4 clear. 101 no problems. We had earlier police tivity on but thats been cleared. Want to update you on closure for the kincade fire. Things are status quo. We saw the closure on 128. And into napa county on and off ramps various ones heading to 101 are closed including shiloh and healdsburg and 101. You can see all the green indicating speeds moving well on 101 working north or southbound. So if you headed into San Francisco you should be okay. Heads up, smart train will be running free service from today all the way until november 6th but they willan limited schedule. Limited schedule and Service Change for golden gate strainsit may include ferry and bart is on time. It was not affected by the power outage outage so trains are moving okay. Thank you. Developing news in Southern California, throw men are dead and nine other people injured after a shooting at a halloween event in long beach. The Long Beach Fire Department says it happened in the backrd ome no information has b release on potential suspects or what led up to the shooting. The pilot of a small plane is dead after a nose dive crashed into a neighborhood a home surveillance camera caught i ages of the plane falling from the sky yesterday in clone yeah new jersey. The plane went through the roof and into the basement of one home causing a fire that also engulfed two adjacent homes. Pilot was reportedly a cardiologist heading to new york city from virginia for a lecture. No one on the ground was injured. Federal investigators say the pilot of the in sengin cessna 414 was communicating with air Traffic Control but he never put out a distress call. That connector now northbound 238 connecting over towards 880 is blocked until further notice. We did get reports of a possible grass fire off to the shoulder. Not sure if its one in the same but its reported close to there involving that offramp working towards 880. That may you might see slowing in both directions because of that.
