Wow. There is a spectacle in the skies over new mexico today as the annual balloon fiesta launched from albuquerque. The nine day Event Features hundreds of balloons including many special shapes. They will be seen all over town as they take flight. But, due to poor visibility, many never made it off the ground today. Pilots inflated their balloons in a static display for the crowd. We had a lot of rain and the moisture and the cold air convected and then we had fog. A little disappointed but i was here early so i got to see some go up. Spectators will get eight more chances to see the balloons go up. This is the fiestas 42nd year. It started back in 1972. Pretty site there. Not a bad sight tonight. But, there is trouble ahead mr. That means tomorrow, the numbers are going to be about five to seven degrees warmer than these. Let me show you. San jose, 87. Concord, 88. Getting a little close to 90 there. We will hit 91 tomorrow. In santa rosa. And 83 degrees in the city. Tomorrow. So, this is a warm to hot day depending on where you are. Thats the main impact. The red flag warning is the concern here in the north bay. As we come in for a closeup look, this starts at 8 00 tonight. Goes through 10 00 sunday. Its a limited window here. It is overnight tonight. Into tomorrow morning. The Vaca Mountains here on the east side of napa valley. This will be the area we watch. And the rest of the mountains through the rest of napa county in far northern sonoma county. When we look at what the wind is doing, we understand why. Right now, there is no problem. This doesnt start for a couple of hours. Lets advance this to midnight. See what happened here . Winds start to pick up. For the mountains in the north bay. But we still have kind of an on shore flow. We have our sustained winds hitting 40. Gusting to 20. Here in the mountains, the brighter the color, the bigger the trouble with wind. We dont notice much of an issue anywhere else. What i want you to see the that. Those are offshore winds in the streamlines telling us that the winds going from the north out to sea. And those are our trouble winds. The ones that give us the red flag warning. We will see another setup like this in the middle of the week. In the meantime, heres the view now looking over san jose. And over santa clara county. And i want to show you the view looking east. This is over the trivalley. Both of those views tomorrow, you have unhealthy air in the forecast. We have a spare the air alert in effect. It is focused on the east bay valleys and down in santa clara county.
