Some have concerns about the company that is going to run the one in their city. The debate over where to put a Homeless Navigation Center in fremont, or whether to have one or not. The council finally voted on a location, any parking lot behind city hall. But the controversy is not over. A fremont interest once more details on the Company Selected to run the center. He calls the Bay Area Community services. I dont think they provide enough transparency to the public. Reporter he thinks he says that they presented numbers that they currently operate. He seemed that it too good to be true. You need to give me details. I really want to see what makes up those numbers. Reporter information was hardtofind because Homeless Navigation Centers do not have to be licensed by the state. This means that they dont have to be regularly inspected and complains do not have to be publicly posted. It is so poorly managed, that she took a drastic step. We had a few incidences that occurred last year that i was very concerned about. And i made a decision to no longer use thunder road as a provider. It makes mes suspicious, how are they going to run the Navigation Center . Are this is one of the Fastest Growing committees, and what has become a booming homeless industry. The contributions doubled in just three years, to over 20 million. They currently operate dozens of social service facilities. By next year, it is set to run two more Navigation Centers. Run one right here on this lot in fremont. The contract is for about 2. 3 billion. The Fremont Human Services director, says that they went by the rules and the best candidate in this case, was chosen. In our personal experience in working with them for several decades now, you know, the relationship has been very strong and we feel like they have been very, very successful. Reporter she says that they are running a oneyearold stair center in berkeley. This was also a selling point. We really like the success rate that they were providing. We provide 24 hour safety from the street. Reporter the ceo quoted 82 success rate getting clients into permanent housing. In the report shows that the numbers are not quite a sight. 64 found permanent housing, while 22 of those ended up back on the streets. I was say 64 , 66 percent, whatever, is actually great, considering that people were there for probably six months or less. They are getting people off of the streets. Reporter they did not comment for this report, but after are story about thunder road aird, the ceo sent a letter to hayward and fremont, warning officials in both cities about what she claims was kpix 5s onesided, sensationalized story.
