The fire started near highway 116 and state route 121 in the Tiny Community of shellville. About 10 acres burned. Kpix5s maria medina is at what is left of that event center where fire officials said it was a close call. Reporter the fire began in a ditch and quickly spread by the strong winds. People were in the event center celebrating a birthday one moment, the very next, running from fast moving flames. Everybody was engulfed. Reporter rick eichler could see the smoke from a mile away. By the time he got to highway 121, the flames were tearing through the property. A structure fire. All this was all lit up. Reporter 45 miles an hour winds fueled the flames, pushing it onto dry grass. Spreading it quickly to a victorian building where about 50 people were celebrating a birthday. It created havoc as people tried to escape. The fire was running underneath the car. Reporter two weddings came to a halt. As the flames threatened the building of corner stone winery. Everybody got out. We were fortunate we didnt lose anybody in those fields trying to get to their car. Reporter the Sonoma County Sheriffs Office ordered evacuations in a twomile radius of the fire as winds continued to pose a challenge to firefighters. Was there any fear this could be a repeat of what we saw a couple of years ago . Yeah. From the time we left the station to the time we got it stopped. Reporter a few years ago, a fire broke out in sonoma and napa counties. The spire fire spread to nine acres but it was a close call. There were places where it could have spotted and spread. Reporter and the Evacuation Order was lifted as firefighters mopped up the scene. In Sonoma County, maria medina, kpix5. From fire to ice, a live look at donner pass near lake tahoe where it is snowing. This is just the beginning of snowfall. Twice as much snow to follow tomorrow afternoon. It is a busy time for weekend travelers that may be headed back to the bay area. It may be worth giving people a friendly heads up. Tornado tornado wild video to show you tonight out of davis. You can see the fast moving twister roaring through whatever is in its path going about 15 miles an hour. The images captured the tornado as it moved dangerously close to mobile homes. Some people trying to hold down the stakes of a tent as the powerful winds approached. A Tornado Warning of all things was issued for davis and solano counties earlier today. It has since been canceled but darren peck tells us what happened and whats next. Reporter yes, and that 15 miles an hour was the Forward Motion ofthe funnel itself. The winds inside of that tornado, or gustnado, the differences are so minute i wont get into it. It could have been as high as 110 miles an hour. This was just outside davis. It became obvious therwas a problem in the atmosphere around 6 35. This afternoon. When this thunderstorm began rotating. Watch what happens there at 6 35. Thats when the National Weather service put out the Tornado Warning. It was the radar that detected the rotation first. And then sure enough, we have all of the pictures and the video coming in on social media of people capturing that funnel cloud. You can see how this made it down almost to i80 and fizzled out by the time we got to 7 00. And, that was at the end of that. However, it is not the end of the storm. Watch what happened to all the energy. Got caught up in the flow of the rest of the storm and is in the sierra. The pictures at donner pass, live images of the snow falling now. In addition to the tornado, there is a winter storm advisory in the sierra. That stays in effect until 5 00 on monday. The snow that happened today is just the start. There will be another half a foot of snow falling on i80. Donner pass right in the middle of the afternoon. Do you know anybody traveling in the sierra tomorrow . This would be a good time to clue tm in things will be a bit rough and there is a chance tomorrow for us in the bay area to see a few isolated thundershower showers. Maybe an occasional thunderstorm. We are in california. Are we serious right now . Reporter ashford took out her cell phone and started recording to protect herself and to get evidence of the shocking scene. Neighbors of the woman now identified as Heather Patten have shared similar disturbing videos. They say they believe she is mentally ill. Whether she is or not, ashford wants her held accountable. This is the type of personality that causes mass shootings. And, if you dont get somebody like this off the street, this type of conduct and behavior will continue. If we look at the accumulations tomorrow, we have a little bit of snow accumulated but watch what happens from then on. Bottom line, tomorrow afternoon, from 5 00 on, is when the majority of the snow falls on the passes. If you have somebody traveling back home. Give them the heads up. They are likely not watching the local news and may not know and people are going to get caught in this tomorrow. If you know somebody you can help, give them a call and make sure you are prepared for snow. Possibly chains. Snow tires, four wheel drives. Lets talk about our chance for rain.
