A developer has proposed building 12,000 homes on the former salt ponds in redwood city. The plan was defeated by widespread public opposition in 2012, but the Trump Administration cleared the way for developers earlier this year. The epa reversed an obamaera ruling saying the clean water act no longer applies. Now the state attorney general and 4 environmental groups are suing the Trump Administration over that decision. Reporter the people on this street in San Francisco got so fed up with the latenight noise and drug dealing on the sidewalk, that some people decided to take matters into their own hands. 25 large boulders have been placed along the sidewalk. Neighbors say before the rocks, this sidewalk was crowded with tents. And meth dealing and use went on all night long. People would come in the morning, set up a tent, get the dope, and then they would set up, shoot up and either break it down or stay for a day or two. Reporter neighbors say they lodged more than 300 complaints with the city in the last three months before finally taking up a collection to buy the boulders, which at least so far has worked. One resident says he doesnt think it was the right solution, but says he understands why they did it. People cant sleep. Its frustration because theyre not getting any sleep at night. He admits the homeless can be disrupting, but says the rocks should not be seen as an answer to the problem. Theyll move down the street a little further, just be someone elses problem. Neighbors say drug activity began about a year ago when a nearby homeless encampment was cleared out. The bolders have been there about two weeks.
