But, when group is trying to get it stopped before hammers go and shovels go into the ground. The lawsuit was filed today in superior court to stop the Navigation Center along the. Many are among the 10,000 people who live within 10,000 feet of the site. They said they want Navigation Centers, just not in residential neighborhoods. The lawsuit is a last resort for us. We did not want to file a lawsuit because it is expensive, acrimonious, but we are really backed into a corner because the city was not engaging with us. We have tried going to the city with hundreds of people. We feel like we still have not been listened to at all. So, we filed the lawsuit to try to get on the citys rater. Reporter among the arguments the group is making is that the land is covered by the state Lands Commission and has not undergone a thorough environmental review. It also said the city has cut itself a sweetheart deal with the poor only charging 400,000 per year at, for land valued at over 1 million. We just got the statement from the San Francisco city attorneys office. Quote, this project has undergone all the required environmental review, all appropriate landuse laws were followed. It continues to say the city continues to put rooms over peoples heads and get them indoors. Now, they are hoping a judge will issue a stay and to stop construction from starting while all this plays out in court. Lived tonight, kpix 5. Tonight, a federal judge is ordering pg e to respond to a report that says for years the agency failed to repair power lines it new could spark wildfires. The wall street journal reports that pg e was aware power lines could fail but delayed repairs. The journal goes on to say pg e ranked the upgrades as low priority compared to other work like substation upgrades. The report also says dozens of towers needed to be replaced because they were being used past their life expectancy. In its report, the wall street journal cited a 2017 internal pg e presentation. The investigation comes months after the camp fire destroyed the town of paradise in butte county and killed 85 people. It is now the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in state history. Today, the town in San Bernardino county, frustrated residents packed a town hall meeting. Those powerful earthquakes knocked out the towns power. Many residents of the Tiny Community are still without water service. We have not had water for almost a week. A lot of people, there are a lot of elderly people here without water. The National Guard arrived in the area earlier this week to hand out cases of water to those affected. Today, the u. S. Geological survey is celebrating the opening of its brandnew campus in the south bay. It is now located at moffett field. The move from their current campus has been underway for the last four years. The new location will allow scientists to further collaborate with nasa and other researchers in the area. We are already doing a lot of work with nasa in Remote Sensing acquiring images from space after earthquakes and also using highperformance computing facilities to model the effects of earthquakes shut as how strong will the earth quake be, how did the seismic waves propagate through the ground todays ribboncutting getting today, they demonstrated a shake alert sensor network.
