Well, an investigation is under way into a Helicopter Crash off the bahamas that killed seven americans. Authorities say the chopper went down two miles off Big Grand Cay island yesterday. It was flying to ft. Lauderdale, florida. All seven onboard, four men and three women died. One of the victims is chris cline from beckley, west virginia. Hes described as a billionaire entrepreneur and a coal tycoon. Another earthquake may be coming in days. Yesterday a 6. 4 magnitude quake rattled the mohave desert. It sparked several fires, damaged homes and businesses, and caused multiple injuries. It was felt in nevada. But the epicenter was in ridgecrest, california, about 100 miles from los angeles. Carter evans has the report. Reporter residents in ridgecrest were hardest hit. It caused this home go up in flames. Homes broke into flames and supermarket items flew off the shelves. Bottles littered the floor of this liquor store. The people in here say it was shaking hard, bottles rocking back and forth and dropping on the floor. Check in the stock room over here. It took a lot of shaking to do that. I was about half a foot from getting hit in the head with a glass cup falling from the humidor right there. Reporter some roads are cracked and there are widespread power outages. We still have no power. Yay, just a lot of broken stuff. Reporter Seismologist Lucy Jones says the strong shaking will continue. Well continue to have a lot of aftershocks. Theres like a one in 20 chance this is not the largest. I got so scared. Reporter the quake was felt 100 miles away in los angeles. The anchors for our los angeles station kcbs were all caught off guard. Wait, whats going on. Are you serious . Reporter ceiling lights swayed and water sloshed in Backyard Pools across the l. A. Region. This was the largest quake to rock Southern California since 1999, an eerie reminder of the 1999 north ridge quake. Centered near l. A. Killed at least 60 people and cost billions of dollars in damage. Luckily this one was much farther away from most populated areas. Experts say, though, this should be a wakeup call for californians. This was a pretty strong earthquake felt as far away as las vegas, and were feeling the shaking continuing in the form of afterschorks, and theyre expected to continue for some time.
