Today thousands of High School Students were attracted to the Marriott City Center. Many kids got on the spot acceptances to historically black colleges across the country. Well, new at 6 00, it has been just over a month since a Pleasant Hill teen was paralyzed from the neck down during a High School Wrestling match. And college park sophomore ryan joseph is already making remarkable strides on his long road to recovery. The 16yearold is currently recovering in colorado. But today, he was able to make an appearance in martinez to cheer on his teammates. We show how his fighting spirit is changeing the outlook of an entire community. Reporter most sporting events are all about the competition, but at the Diablo Athletic League championship, this meet in martinez started with a message of hope and healing. These players and coaches line up to hear from someone they all cherish. Sophomore ryan joseph. The 16yearold who loved this sport cannot place play, but he can make an impact. He shares this message via skype. I want to say thank you. Reporter thank you for the outpouring of love for College Park High school and beyond. Ryan was wrestleing in the 160 pound weight class last month when he suffered a spinal cord injury. But he has a lot of strength to push toward recovery. The light at the end of my tunnel is just. Just beyond bright. I just feel. Beyond fortunate. To have wrestled with you guys. Reporter he says his nurses have told him not many high functioning quadriplegics ever feel lucky. I never have bad days because i know everybody in this room, you know, part of my family. Reporter his positivity, an inspiration. Oh say can you see it really showed an inspiration and the courage this kid has had. It brought tears to my eyes. Reporter and out on the mat during championships with ryan watching, they wrestled for their hero. Ryan has come a long way in the last month. As you saw, he is already starting to move his hands again and he just enjoyed his first real meal since the accident. There was a picture of him eating french fries. His family was so happy. Yeah.
