Right now officers are telling residents in his neighborhood from a street whirl avenue, this court are here, to shelter in place. Nearby schools, including royal sunset high and burbank elementary are on lockdown as officers continue to search for the suspect. This all happens around 941 this morning, according to the sheriffs office. The motorcycle cop was trying to pull over an suv for speeding. The driver did not stop initially. When he finally stopped, the suspect to the car in reverse, backed up, and rammed the motorcycle. With the motorcycle still talk stuck to the car, he continued to reverse. The officer was able to get off the bike as he was being pushed and almost crushed behind the car. The car then swerved and then came forward again at the officer to run him over again. The officer fired multiple rounds into the windshield of the vehicle. Reporter he says the suspect ended up ditching the vehicle at royal avenue. The car turned out to be stolen in the suspect ran off. They are searching that area right now as well but they have not found that suspect. He is only described as a young hispanic male. Right now it is unclear if that suspect was indeed shot by the officer. We know obviously that the suv had several bullet holes in it. As for the officer, he is doing okay, miraculously survived the incident. He does have a banged up arm, scrapes, and is at the hospital getting checked out at this hour.
