Up next, a woman who helps the older with dance classes and housing. What started on the war on property in 1966 to help seniors in San Francisco, helps 40,000 elderly in four counties. The jefferson award winner who leads the nonprofit is a woman whose personal inspiration first brought her to the agency, 40 years ago. Whether it is helping seniors with alzheimers and parkinsons, leading a choreographed dance class, she has been part of the selfhelp for the elderly since the late 70s. Born and raised in hong kong, her older brother and sisters experience the summer of love, almost dashed her hopes of coming here. For a while my parents said maybe you shouldnt go there. She made it, attended San Francisco state and went to work for selfhelp for the elderly. Most of them needed shelter or housing or food or clothing. Or income. Knowing an act of kindness can change a life is one inspired another woman to help Senior Citizens. It was the kindness of strangers that gave her hope as a child, now she is paying it forward. She was only six years old when her family fled vietnam and she remembers the people who are kind to her. Those were priceless moments, they made me feel at home and complete. She finds inspiration in those moments. After decades of volunteering to help children, the homeless and elderly, and 2016 she started a nonprofit specifically for Senior Citizens. It is such a tragedy for me if i see seniors who do not have family, someone to help them. Think of this organization as a makeawish for the elderly who do not have a family or mummy money to see things fulfilled. We take them to monterey bay, to will watch. Trips to the symphony, family reunions, in less than two years, 23 wishes have been fulfilled. One of our cash in her Cancer Patients wanted to stay in a hotel because he never had a home. They sent sue to vietnam to see her mother. She has a big heart. Her heart is like an ocean. She could not afford a plane ticket so they bought one for her. Mike has been helping stan and john for the last three years. They take care of people, that need to be taken care of. As long as people show up he will keep ringing food and a message. My hope is that people will see what we are doing and know that anyone can go out and help people. Retirement can be the beginning of a new life go. His life is like chess.
