That crash near bailey cleared but its still about a 20 minute ride out of antioch to 680. This accident we have been tracking since the beginning of the morning commute, this is westbound 4 just past mcewan. Car wrapped around a tree there. One lane is blocked, 20 minutes from 680 to interstate 80. Your ride along the eastshore freeway starting to slow down. This is right near ashby, 25 minutes from highway 4 to the maze and reports of a new accident on 580 as you approach highway 24. Heres a look just past the scene of the crash. A federal judge in San Francisco will be hearing from them today. All those groups do not agree with the Trump Administrations hope to end the daca program in march. The president Gave Congress until march to come up with a legislative fix. Democrats hope it wont take that long. Some hope it would part this year. Thats not happening. They are going over the details of the proposal. We are still looking at the bill, still reading the bill, and still working on some other issues, just came from a meeting from daca, for example, so were trying to get that moving concurrently with the bill. Obviously, it wont be voted on here now. But january is going to be busy. Reporter the bill being considered right now suggests legalizing the status of people admitted through the daca program. Under the Trump Administrations policy, Daca Recipients can stay for the remainder of their twoyear authorization. The judge will consider the governments request for dismissal of the lawsuits. The hearing starts in federal court in San Francisco at 8 a. M. President trump could have a new tax bill on his desk to sign by later today. Overnight the u. S. Senate passed a bill along party lines 5148. If we cant sell this to the morning people, we ought to be go into another line of work. This will be a windfall for the wealthy. The vast majority of the rain is out of the area taking a look at that hidef doppler a little closer. You can see that the green is moving off of the screen or a little bit to the east. This crash is right as you approach highway 24. We are seeing delays back up right near north main street for folks heading through walnut creek. You can see all those brake lights. Our travel times are starting to build as you make your way to 24, 10 minutes. Westbound 237, this is an accident near north mathilda avenue. You can see the backup stretches to lawrence expressway and, in fact, its beyond that to Great America parkway so just about a 25 minute ride for drivers heading from 880 westbound over to 101. Slowdowns along that stretch. Your ride heading through san jose still looking okay. We are not quite in the red, still in the yellow, 29 minutes from hellyer to san antonio. Thats a check of your traffic. Back to you. Now to our house fire the fire watch. The thomas fire is now the second largest wildfire in state history. The blaze has expanded across more than 425 square miles. Currently its 55 contained. The fire still threatening 18,000 structures and higher humidity this week is helping crews battle the flames but brush in that area is tinder dry. We expect strong gusty north winds for overnight wednesday to thursday morning. The big difference is that we have a lot less fire on the hills than we did saturday. Officials estimate that the thomas fire will be contained by january 7th. Federal investigators are learning more about the amtrak train crash in Washington State that killed three and left dozens of others injured. They say the train was traveling 80 Miles Per Hour in a 30mileperhour zone and that it appears the emergency brake engaged automatically. A conductor learning the new route was also in the locomotive cab with the engineer. We have to look at the entire territory to see what was happening in the moments before the accident and we hope the event data recorders will help us with that as well as interviews with the crew. Investigators will also try to recover video from cameras on the train which were badly damaged. Technology known as positive train control could have slowed or stopped the train but wasnt in use on that stretch of track. Uber being dealt a pretty big set back in europe. The highest court for the European Union ruled that uber is a transport company, not a Digital Company as uber has tried to portray itself. That means that uber is open to all the other regulations that Taxi Companies have to deal with across europe. Uber has put out a statement saying that it doesnt expect this to change the way it does business in most eu countries. It says that it believes that regulation is needed for that industry but it could be dealing with higher operating costs and thats a big deal for investors. Uber currently has a private market cap of around 65 billion. And it does plan on an ipo sometime in the next 2 years. Bloomberg reports that toys r us is considering closing at least 100 stores. Right now its in bankruptcy. So its trying to restructure the company and despite most reports out saying that holiday sales have been strong even for mallbased companies, toys r us sales are down 15 compared to a year earlier. San mateo bridge not looking so bad in comparison in the yellow heading westbound out of hayward into foster city. 25 minutes. 680 an earlier accident at walnut creek slow ride, tow truck arrived and they are clearing it. Southbound 680 still slow. We are still in the red but likely to come back down now that those lanes are open. 17 minutes from willow pass to 24. Business owners in the high sierra are banking on todays snowstorm to give them a financial boost ahead of the Holiday Season. The quick hitting storm appears to be one that will deliver a nice dose of fresh powder. Not lasting long enough to grind travel to a halt. Businesses are hoping it will also bring more foot traffic through the doors. We are seeing more traffic. A lot of people are rolling into town. People are excited for this upcoming storm. Hopefully, well get a nice amount of snow on the mountains. The National Weather service is forecasting about 6 inches of snow over central sierra mountain passes from this storm. Emily, you have to be excited. I know youre a skier. Im excited and im also usually the one who goes up for the snowpack survey so i like to ski while i am up there. At the sierra, you can see all that white, thats the snow were talking about. They are under a Winter Weather advisory. If you are heading that way, be prepared for travel delays. We have three to five inches of snow, 10 inches in some of the higher areas so its very exciting for them because they havent gotten the amount of snow they got last year. They are very much excited about that. Back here in the bay area, all of that snow means rain here. Its mostly moved through.
