Unconscious and still trapped inside. Fires had to cut open the front portion of the bus so they could safely go in to bring them out. So many victims, paramedics treated victims with the most severe injuries first. Here a man holding on to the hand of a victim and comforting him. Next to him a woman getting treatment from a paramedic. The victims were all dressed up. The driver of the bus said he had just picked up the large group on harrison street in San Francisco. I imagine it is a Christmas Party of some sort. Where were you bringing them to . The chp says about 35 passengers were on the bus. All of them were tossed out of their seats. Officers say at least six people suffered from major injuries. Many more with minor injuries. I asked the driver how this all happened. The bus started fishtailing and then it flipped over. Was it the tires blown out or what . I dont know. Maybe excess speed. I dont know. Were you driving too fast in. No, i wasnt. Why would you say it is excess speed . Because of the curve right about there he told me he was not under the influence. He said the only reason he is okay is because he wore his seatbelt. These are some of the windows that were on the bus. You see its quite badly damaged. The chp is saying it is amazing no one does killed there this overturn. If the driver is found of driving too fast he could be charged with reckless driving. Traffic is extremely bad. Its backed up for quite a few miles. What a mess. Lucky nobody was killed. Did you smell any alcohol from either any of the people in the bus or the driver himself this. Yeah, that was one thing i did notice. I did smell alcohol. Now the driver appeared very sobered and alert. He was obviously in shock but he appeared alert. He said he was not drinking at the time. I believe the alcohol might have been coming from the passengers obviously. They were going down to perhaps some Christmas Party. They were in a joyous mood and perhaps there was alcohol on the party bus. Is there anybody left at the scene . Nobody left at the scene at this point. Pretty much all of them have been taken to the hospital if they had any kind of injuries. Interesting fact here, we are only about a block and a half away from sf general. They had so many victims at one point they had to the chp had to walk about ten of these victims to sf general to be treated. It was amazing. Quicker just to walk there than wait for emergency help. Back to you. Well there was no shortage of traffic on highway 1 as you can imagine. Still bad out there when this thing happened. In fact there could be residual delays well into the night we are told as the crews still have a whole lot to do to clear that bus away. And here is loot look at the crash scene. The San FranciscoFire Department tweeted out this photo. Again multiple injuries reported after a bus overturns on highway 101. A party bus on its way to palo alto. It flipped right there at hospital curve near cesar chavez street. Now to san ta clara. Tonight he is speaking to believe kpix 5. We are live at the sheriffs office. Yeah. He said he held a get together with guys he used to work with. Retirees who still help out the department. He said it is wrong they lost their jobs. He was once a Santa Clara County sheriffs lieutenant who ran for sheriff. But then found himself on the other side of the law nearly 20 years ago. Convicted of child molestation and later embezzlement but he serve his time. He recently held a Holiday Party where guests included several deputies. I cant comment on any personnel matters. Tonight a sfoeks person would only confirm the departments on and off duties conduct policy. You are not allowed to frequent certain areas. At the moment the only thing we know is they were released and no cause was given. The Vice President of the union which represents the ten sis deputies said so far the sheriff doesnt need a reason in this case. It unfortunate because if these rumors are swirling about, where did they come from . The sheriff provided no cause to these employees. He told kpix 5 over the phone the retired deputies, his friend shouldnt lose their jobs. And that it is wrong their livelihood and careers are now affected because of one gathering. And so when officers are off duty, they need to conduct themselves obeying the law and also have their lives [ indiscernible ] and again these are retired deputies who still help out with the department. Because they werent given an official reason as to why they lost their jobs, they cannot appeal their termination. Back to you. Southern california now. Six wildfires have now scorched just shy of 170,000 acres. That number will go up by morning. Almost 700 homes and building have been destroyed in the flames. Tonight nearly 25,000 homes are still threatened. Here is a look at where those fires are burning tonight. You can see it is scattered all across the Southern California region. The biggest one, the thomas fire in ventura county. Reporter danielle is there. Fire Officials Say at first it was the wind now its the dry brush fuelling the largest fire burping right now in Southern California. The threat remains as tens of thousands of homes are still in jeopardy of burning down. 132,000 acres are burning. Dry dense brush is fuelling the blaze in the Los Angeles National forest as the thomas fire inches closer to santa barbara. Devastated neighborhoods are left in its wake. I dont really know where to start. She is helping her mother pick through the rubble for anything that can be salvaged from a home that once held generations of memories. My grandpa built it. Designed it, built it 35 years ago and they lived in it ever since. Nearly 500 s homes and buildings have been burned. There was some relief in northern san diego county. I thursday night the blaze there destroyed at least 85 structures including many homes in a mobile home park. It was just horrible. It was an inferno where my horses are. I am just thankful they were rescued. The threat is not over yet. Many are still bracing for the strong santa anna wind expected throughout the weekend. 1 7000000 have been spent so far fighting this fire here in ventura county. Its only 10 contained. Back to you. Another state lawmaker stepping down because of serious sexual accusations. Democratic assemblyman Matt Dababneh from woodland hill Social Security hills is accused of committing a lewd act. He said his resignation does not mean he is admit anything wrong doing. He told the l. A. Times quote my stepping down is out of guilt or fear. I think it is time for me to move on to new opportunities. He is the second legislator in the last two weeks to resign. Raul stepped down last month over Sexual Misconduct allegations. State mediators may get involved to try to end the oakland city workers strike. Kpix 5s christen tells us where things stand in this dispute. Tonight oakland is preparing for day five. [ indiscernible ] there oakland workers who walked off the job on tuesday marching through the streets of oakland today with no end to the labor strike in sight. They blasted the mayors decision to declare an impasse after making her final offer yesterday. She has never been a friend to labor. The unions rejected that offer. Tonight frankie said one of the main sticking points is money. She claims low rages have forced her many and forced and many of her coworkers to leave oakland. The mayor says she simply cannot offer the kind of wage increase the unions want. 4 per year over the next two years. We cannot compromise our fiscal stability. The offer we have made exceeds the cost of living increase in the bay area. The unions released a statement saying we reached out to city negotiators to select a mediator. The city and the union have problems that have to be solved together. It is that the citys home [ indiscernible ] trash cans are over flowing. It happened just after 8 00 but there are still huge delays. 29 people were hurt in the crash. Four of the victims have serious injuries. Tonight Police Looking for a gunman who pulled off a driveby shooting near a San Francisco school. Chopper 5 showing us the scene near the Jordan School for equity. Investigators say one person was hit but there is no word yet on who it was or their condition. Happened just after 3 00. Its unclear what led up to the shooting. Police say no students were connected. Detectives are looking for a silver car was seen that was seen speeding away from the scene. The army corp. Of engineers start add new weighing system. Its been two months since the wildfires devastated parts of the north bay and support is still pouring in for the victims. Not only us but this community was pretty heavily impacted and we are all trying to do everything we can to raise awareness and funds. It is hard to meet anyone here that doesnt have a fire story. Myself and genie both lost our houses as did a lot of our friends. So for the hockey teams to step up, and the firefighters and the police come here and put this event on to raise money for a lot of my friends we are excited to have them here. This is for a really great cause. Between the flat shot, line changes, and blades of glory there is a realization that while santa rosa and the north bays on the path to recovery, not everyone in california is so lucky right now. Here we are almost two months to the day when the fire moved into santa rosa and we have events like this going on here in santa rosa and we also have firefighters that have left santa rosa and gone to Southern California. Even tonight as we are are playing this game 15 of our firefighters are in Southern California right now. Its its incredible that we are on this end of the spectrum up here and down in Southern California they are starting to go through what we went through two months ago. Back to you.
