The Holiday Shopping season usually means great deals but how do you know if you are really cashing in on the savings . Kpix 5s julie watts joins us live outside a best buy in san jose with what you need to know before you pull out that wallet. Julie, good morning. Reporter thats right, good morning, yeah. We are out here with the black friday campers. These folks obviously dedicated to scoring those doorbuster deals. But you know, you raised a good question, how do you know if something is a deal . The experts at wallet hub say you have to remember one number, 37. 37 to be exact. They say thats the overall average discount on black friday deals this year. Now, that is down from 40 over the last couple of years. 39 last year, but certainly down in terms of the average deal. So before you whip out that credit card, you may want to google the item first to see what it usually sells for and confirm you are saving more than 37 . Go through your cart in line and go through the markdowns. If theres anything less than 37 off you might be better off waiting until christmas night to get that. Reporter you know, those best deals pretty much on anything usually come at the last minute so where do you find the best deals on black friday . Well, wallet hub analyzed 10,000 deals and found kohls and j. C. Penney are offering the biggest discounts, 66 off. Sears is discounting 50 . Macys 45 . And wallet hub says actually Bass Pro Shops are offering the lowest average discount this year, only about 21 . Now, overall, the survey found black friday discounts are generally highest on items like clothing and accessories and electronics. And there are some great deals advertised for tvs here at best buy some good deals some on amazon, as well.
