A 53yearold woman was out with it happened this morning in east oakland near 63rd and bancroft and police say a 53 yearold woman was out with her own pet pitbull when two other pet bulls ran over pitbulls ran over from a nearby home and began attacking already dog. When the woman tried to stop them, she fell on the ground and the pitbulls began attacking her. A 71yearold man who saw what was going on tried to get the dogs off of her with a mop. He was also bitten. Soon after animal control showed up. Both victims were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition tonight. Animal control took away the two animals involved in the attack as well as another dog from the same owner. Was in court this a convicted killer who escaped from a Psychiatric Hospital in hawaii and traveled to california was in court this afternoon in san joaquin county. Randall saito is facing Second Degree escape charges. He told a judge he does not want to go back to hawaii. On sunday he walked off the hospital grounds and managed to get on a plane to san jose. He told me he was in trouble in mexico. They had him in a holding cell. Reporter Laura Mae Campbell thought she was helping her grandson get out of a lockup in mexico when she wired 2,700 through Western Union. Like many she was duped by the grandma scam. The money went to crooks, but now she could get some of that money back. To settle charges brought by the federal trade commission and the department of justice, Western Union has agreed to pay 586 million to reimburse victims in all 50 states, victims who used Western Union to wire money to scammers between 2004 and january, 2017. Hi, grandma. Its me. Reporter despite warnings like this the Money Transfer service is used by con artists as a nonuntraceable way to steal money from victims convincing people they have to wire funds to help loved ones, pay the irs and a variety of other scams. Western union says it shares the governments goal of protecting consumers from fraud and is fully cooperating to see the consumers are reimbursed. Its also agreed to make changes like putting antifraud warnings on forms that consumers use to wire money, providing mandatory training for Western Union agents and putting in more antifraud protections, protections that many say are long overdue. When you get frightened, you dont think. We hear that too often. A special website has been set up to process these claims. Its westernunionremission. Com. Claims must be filed by february 12th and Western Union says victims will receive a percentage of the amount that they lost. There are at least half a million victims and the new scam, the replacement this, is actually gift cards. Now theyre going to get people to buy them gift cards and send them that. They call the house and cell phones. They dont care. This is the time of year they do that. It is. Be very cautious. If someone asks you to pay with a gift card, its likely a scam. Police in gilroy say they have found more card skimmers on gas pumps. On monday police say they found a skimmer at a valero gas station on first street. Now investigators tracked down two more at another station, a chevron on westwood drive. They believe the skimmers were there for at least two weeks. This one was inside the machine, so theres really no way anybody would have seen it. They successfully pulled about 1,000 out of my account. Authorities say everyone who has bought gas at those stations lately should monitor Bank Statements and watch for unauthorized activity. Police want to know about any fraudulent charges. Open.
