Overnight the water went downhill where theres no longer storm drains in place and created some erosion concerns on dafford court. Reporter last nights rain wasnt as bad as it could have been but the concern is that more storms could mean more sinkholes which undermine the integrity of streets. Specialized cameras are helping the city identify the problem spots and so far, they have found 31 sections of fire damaged pipe. A Safeway Grocery employee is being treated for stab wounds after confronting a suspected shoplifter at a berkeley store on shattuck place yesterday. More from christin ayers. It was a shoplifting gone sideways. Reporter it started as a case of petty theft and Berkeley Police say it quickly escalated. The suspect was trying to steal something from the safeway and was stopped by a staff member. Reporter the thief pulled a knife and stabbed the employee. When police got there, the suspect was gone.
