Its a battle over rent control in the city of san jose. We have a report from city hall. Reporter its been a very controversial topic. The city council will have to decide if they want to keep the rent control ordinance as is or go ahead and make a change. The current ordinance links rent control to less than 45,000 apartments in the city. Those would have a maximum increase of 5 each year. The new proposal would look at limiting increases for rent control apartments to inflation levels, the price index or cpi. [chanting] yesterday, there was a demonstration outside city hall Holding Signs for change. They claim rent increases force people to homelessness. Folks are struggling to pay the rent where it is right now. They end up on the street and this is happening every day. Reporter some are were the inflation may be unpredictable, making it hard for tenants and landlords to plan ahead. One consideration, if it passes, is capping the maximum increase at an 8 level. The thing is, city councilmembers are divided on the issue. We will see how they vote later. From San Jose City hall, sandra osborne, kpix5. A bay area congresswoman shares her personal experience of being sexually harassed in the workplace. A hearing will aim to find a solution to Sexual Harassment on capitol hill. The family initially filed a 25,000 claim against the city. The lawyers said because the city didnt respond, the family will now file a lawsuit. They said the legal representatives have attempted to reach an amicable settlement with the family but the family lawyer refused to provide information about the injuries that would be necessary to resolve the claim. San jose tenants are suffering people cant afford to live here. People right now are in the hospital because they are so nervous about being evicted from their apartments for no reason. Mass shootings in las vegas and texas, recently, had residents concerned about the opening of a third gun store in the city. In san carlos, people feel safe. Having a gun store that sells semi automatic weapons and ammo, the main thing on their webpage, doesnt seem appropriate. The moratorium is for 45 days but the city manager said it could be expanded while they study this as you. The raiders are one step closer to leaving for las vegas. First one, spending money is painful to me. Second, saving money is pleasurable for me. The wild part is these people feel a pain of this with feelings like anxiety and distress when they make purchases. On the other end of the spectrum, one quarter people are spendthrifts. They dont worry about spending and that causes problems later when they spend more than they would like. Half of us fall squarely in between and are happier than tight wads and spendthrifts. In gender, women are as likely to be tight wads as they are spendthrifts and men are more than 2. 5 more likely to be tight wads. Followup research, this finding cracks me up. A lawsuit is expected to be filed against the city of dublin revolving a water park and an accident that happened at a slide here. The story, coming up. Forecast in just a few minutes. Caused by a well placed credit card skimming device at a gas station. A spike in credit card fraud cases in gilroy appears to have been caused by a skimming device at a gas station. Gilroy police said 50,000 was stolen from 40 victims. They used these at a valero gas nation and they believed the skimmer was in use for at least a week. Some of the victim said they never filled up their tanks. This was inside the machine and theres no way anybody would have seen it. We felt like it was a safe way. They successfully pulled 1000 from my account. Police believe the victims will grow from this case and a facebook form listed at least 100 people with similar stories after visiting that valero gas station. The parents of a 10yearold boy injured after being ejected from an east bay waterslide are suing after the boy suffered scrapes all over his body.
