This is how an hours long standoff in Diamond Heights ended. With not one, but two tranquilizer darts to the backside for this Mountain Lion. We are encroaching in their territory so that is what they are doing. Reporter the big kitty commotion began this morning when the Mountain Lion likely searching for his or her own territory got lost between two apartment complexes on Diamond Heights boulevard. Based on the location where the lion was, it couldnt have found its own way back into a wildlife corridor. Reporter after waiting hours for one of the few tranquilizer authorized fish and wildlife agents to arrive on scene, the cat was on the receiving end of one dart that didnt seem to work though it rolled down a hill. It appeared it had a little too much stimulation for the drug to help it go under. Reporter then came dart number two. And it was time for a cat nap and a trip to a new home at Crystal Springs reservoir in san mateo county. And they can take the animal and hopefully create a happy home for it in that habitat. Reporter wildlife officials were not sure if the Mountain Lion was the same one caught on tape twice this week outside sales force ceo mark beneofs home. We learned just a short time ago that the Mountain Lion was an 82pound male. About 18 months old. That cat will be tagged and released. We will know more about where exactly it has been. One man is now making it his mission to get those cars to the scrap yard. Kpix5s emily turner is live in santa rosa with why this man is stepping up. Emily . Reporter this is what he does for a living and his heart is in the right place. Right here in Sonoma County which is where he grew up and he says he doesnt want the people who lost absolutely everything to pay anything at all. There are 248 burned out cars in the streets of coffee park. They sit in a jurisdictional no mans land in a neighborhood that is no longer habitable. The Santa Rosa Police department has called in joe careen to come clear the burned cars out. No oil. No gasoline. There is no brakes. Nothing. The cars are completely burned. Everything is burned in them. Reporter it is a massive job that expends beyond the park and one that hits home. Joes daughter lost her home in the fire. So, for her, and his community, he is clearing and scrapping for free. We are doing this for the county. For the cities. We are doing this for free. Because, to help the community out. Because, we are in a turmoil right now. We want to do right with everybody. Sonoma county needs us, basically. Reporter he answers the call by taking the charred shells and loading them on the truck one by one. They go to his yard and get smashed into scrap. And then sent to a recycling center in redwood city. Clearing the way for debris cleanup. All the cars have been photographed by the Santa Rosa Police department. They have written the address. Where they found that car. And they market with the circle and an x in it so he knows this is one of the cars he need to tow away. We have gotten a lot of questions about insurance. All of the insurers that we have talked to have told us they have handled most, if not all of their Insurance Claim on automobiles within the first 36 hours of that fire. Joe is also contracted to take the cars cleared by the army corp. Of engineers from properties. Ability 600 in coffee park alone and estimated 9,000 in the entire county.
